Gia Lai: Rescued 10 people trapped in floodwaters

On November 17, the Defense Command of Region 5 - Ayun Pa (Gia Lai province) organized forces and vehicles to promptly rescue 10 people isolated by floods in Uar commune.

Authorities deployed vehicles for the rescue operation.

Earlier, heavy rains lasting for several days had caused water levels in the streams to rise. Around 9:00 AM that day, as the rain temporarily stopped, three villagers working in their fields – Mr. Vu Dinh Duyen (born in 1975, Ia Zip hamlet), Nguyen Duc Trong (born in 2007), and Ksor Tinh (born in 2010, both residing in Thanh Cong hamlet) – were isolated by floodwaters in the Uar stream area (Ia Zip hamlet). After being trapped for many hours, their food supplies ran out, forcing them to eat corn in the field to survive, while the weather continued to deteriorate.

Isolated residents were brought safely ashore.

Upon receiving a rescue request from the Uar commune authorities, the Area 5 Defense Command – Ayun Pa deployed a force of 12 officers, 3 vehicles, and 1 motorboat; coordinating with the Uar commune Military Command and 14 mobile militia members. The rescue team approached the scene by boat, braving the strong current, and reached and brought 3 citizens to safety at 11:52 AM on the same day.

During the expanded search, authorities discovered seven more people isolated in nearby fields and successfully rescued them in the early afternoon. All ten rescued individuals are safe and in stable condition.
