Prices of raw materials for making moon cakes in Hai Duong increase

Prices of some ingredients and tools for making moon cakes have increased compared to last year.

According to some shop owners, the dough for mooncakes and sticky rice cakes costs from 35,000 to 75,000 VND/kg, the sugar water for mooncakes and sticky rice cakes costs 30,000 VND/500ml bottle. Pre-mixed mixed fillings cost from 170,000 to 180,000 VND/kg. Some types of pureed fillings such as lotus seeds, black sesame, green beans, red beans... cost from 70,000 to 99,000 VND/kg.

In the past 2 years, many new types of fillings have appeared on the market such as pre-mixed vegetarian mixed fillings, low-sugar pureed fillings. In addition, there are also cake fillings made from some fruits such as passion fruit, apricot, blueberry, strawberry, priced from 165,000-194,000 VND/kg.

Some other ingredients such as: lotus jam 130,000-150,000 VND/kg, white sesame from 100,000-120,000 VND/kg, pumpkin jam 60,000 VND/kg, salted eggs from 45,000-60,000 VND/dozen. Cake molds range from 65,000-120,000 VND/piece.

Many types of pureed fillings are introduced to the market to serve the needs of many people making their own moon cakes.

The market for ingredients and tools for making moon cakes is diverse, meeting the needs of many people to make their own cakes instead of buying cakes produced on industrial lines. Most of the ingredients for making moon cakes are produced by Vietnamese enterprises, with detailed information, instructions, and clear expiration dates.
