Coffee price developments in localities
Coffee prices in Dak Lak today reached 133,000 VND/kg. In Lam Dong, the price was 131,000 VND/kg. In Gia Lai, the purchase price reached 132,800 VND/kg, while in Dak Nong, coffee also cost 133,000 VND/kg.
Coffee supply in Vietnam is abundant, increasing selling pressure. In this context, investment funds adjust long-term buying positions and demand from roasters decreases, creating continuous volatility in the market.
According to analysts, the current coffee market is strongly influenced by abundant supply from two major producing countries, Brazil and Vietnam. However, the pace of sales is showing signs of slowing down as farmers expect higher prices.
In addition, Robusta inventories monitored by ICE fell to a two-month low, helping to support prices. Meanwhile, fluctuations in the US dollar exchange rate also had an impact on commodity markets, including coffee.
The coffee market is also affected by macroeconomic changes, notably the USD exchange rate against other major currencies. The Brazilian Real increased by 1.8% against the USD in the first two weeks of March.
Experts predict that in the short term, coffee prices may continue to fluctuate due to pressure from supply. However, in the medium term, the market may recover as demand increases and supply gradually narrows.
Pepper prices edged up slightly
According to the update at 5:00 a.m. on March 14, 2025, the domestic pepper market maintained an upward trend compared to yesterday, with an increase ranging from 500 - 1,000 VND/kg. Currently, the average price in key areas is 160,200 VND/kg.
Specifically, in Gia Lai , pepper prices continued to increase by 500 VND/kg compared to the previous day, raising the purchase price to 159,000 VND/kg.
In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, pepper price increased by 1,000 VND/kg, reaching 160,000 VND/kg.
In Binh Phuoc, pepper prices recorded a similar increase, currently trading at 160,000 VND/kg.

In Dak Nong alone, pepper prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday, remaining at 161,000 VND/kg.
According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), at 5:00 a.m. on March 14, 2025, the global pepper market was generally stable, without major fluctuations, except for Indonesia, which recorded a slight increase.
Specifically, Indonesian Lampung black pepper is currently priced at 7,254 USD/ton, while Muntok white pepper is at 10,252 USD/ton, up 15 USD/ton compared to the previous session.
Pepper prices in Malaysia remained unchanged from the previous session, with ASTA black pepper purchased at $9,800/ton, while ASTA white pepper was traded at $12,300/ton.
In Brazil, pepper prices fluctuated little, currently remaining high at 6,900 USD/ton.
Pepper exports from Vietnam remain stable but show a slight downward trend. Specifically, black pepper of 500 g/l is currently traded at $7,000/ton; 550 g/l is at $7,200/ton, while white pepper is at $10,000/ton.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the 2025 pepper harvest is entering its peak period and is expected to peak around March - April. However, global output is forecast to continue to decrease due to the shrinking cultivation area in Vietnam, along with unfavorable weather in India.
In Vietnam, farmers in pepper growing areas are entering the harvest season. Currently, in Dak Nong, the area with the largest pepper production in the country, about 40% of the area has been harvested. Meanwhile, in Dak Lak - the second largest production area, only about 5 - 10% of the area has been harvested.
One notable point is that this year, many farmers have profited from durian and coffee, so they are not in a hurry to sell pepper to the market, leading to a situation of hoarding. This makes the supply scarce even during the peak harvest time.
