Export markets have many positive signals.
Import and export activities through border gates in Lang Son are taking place stably with high customs clearance efficiency. According to the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone, the number of vehicles transporting import and export goods each day is about 1,700 vehicles, concentrated at Huu Nghi, Chi Ma, and Tan Thanh border gates.
As of mid-November, the total import-export turnover through Lang Son reached over 80 billion USD, an increase of 43% over the same period in 2024. At Tan Thanh border gate alone, from November 1 to November 20, 3,645 trucks of agricultural products were exported to China, reaching a turnover of about 54 million USD. Of which, durian accounted for 546 trucks with an output of thousands of tons.
Challenges and market context
Despite the positive signs, Vietnam’s durian industry still faces challenges from the Chinese market. The requirements for quality standards for official exports are increasingly high. At the same time, China’s increase in planting area and domestic output also creates greater competition for Vietnamese agricultural products.
This context requires businesses to improve product quality and strictly comply with export regulations. The recent prosecution of 17 business leaders related to violations in durian exports is also a warning about the importance of transparent and sustainable business.
