Pepper prices today in the country
This morning, pepper prices in key production areas in Southern Vietnam remained stable. The purchase price fluctuated between 150,000 - 152,000 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper price in Gia Lai reached 150,000 VND/kg.
Ba Ria - Vung Tau maintains the level of 151,000 VND/kg.
Pepper prices in Dak Lak and Binh Phuoc are at 152,000 VND/kg and 151,000 VND/kg, respectively.
Dak Nong maintains the price at 152,000 VND/kg.
With domestic supply gradually depleting after the 2025 harvest season ends, and inventories in dealers and businesses are running low, pepper prices are likely to recover soon and continue their upward trend in the coming days. Therefore, it is forecasted that domestic pepper prices tomorrow may stabilize or increase slightly again.
According to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the ongoing "fever" in pepper prices is mainly due to the depletion of domestic supply, while export demand shows signs of strong recovery. Demand exceeding supply has pushed pepper prices up continuously in recent days.
Last August, Vietnam exported 21,000 tons of pepper, reaching 127 million USD, bringing the total turnover in the first 8 months of the year to 1.1 billion USD. Although the export volume decreased by 9.8% compared to the same period in 2024, the value increased by 27%. This shows that the average export price of pepper has increased by nearly 41%, reaching 6,740 USD/ton.
With this growth momentum, pepper export turnover in 2025 is likely to exceed the 1.3 billion USD mark of 2024. Demand from major markets such as the US, Germany, India and the UK is increasing strongly, creating a great driving force for pepper prices.
Therefore, in the coming time, pepper prices are forecast to continue to remain high and are likely to increase further when domestic supply is scarce. Businesses and traders will have to compete more fiercely to collect goods, pushing up prices.
