For example, the route from Hanoi to Phu Quoc and vice versa during the holidays ranges from 7.5 - 9 million VND/ticket, significantly higher than the average price outside the peak season.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc route costs from 3.5 - 4 million VND/round trip ticket, while the routes from Da Nang, Hai Phong, Can Tho to Phu Quoc fluctuate at around 2.5 - 3.5 million VND/round trip ticket.
In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route, one of the "hottest" routes during the holiday, recorded a sharp increase in ticket prices. In mid-February 2025, Vietjet opened this route for sale at a price of about 900,000 VND/ticket, but now it has increased to 1.5 - 2 million VND/ticket, applicable for flights from April 28 to May 3.
According to some airline ticket agents, during the April 30 and May 1 holiday season in 2024, the average round-trip ticket price from Hanoi to Phu Quoc ranges from 6.5 to 8 million VND, while the Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc route is at 3 to 3.5 million VND. Similarly, the Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route also ranges from only 1.2 to 1.7 million VND/ticket.
Thus, compared to this holiday season last year, ticket prices this year have increased by 500,000 - 1 million VND/ticket depending on the route. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said it has asked airlines to increase their fleets and optimize flight schedules to minimize the situation of "sold out tickets" or excessive price increases.
Experts recommend that passengers should take advantage of early sales or promotions outside of peak periods to buy tickets, and closely monitor the situation of additional flights from airlines to have more options at more reasonable prices.
