On the morning of August 25th, fuel prices rose slightly. At 7:45 AM (Vietnam time), US WTI crude oil edged up 0.2%, trading near $64 per barrel; Brent crude oil also increased by a similar amount, trading at around $67.9 per barrel.
Oil prices are forecast to fluctuate within a narrow range but are trending slightly upward due to lingering market uncertainty surrounding the prospects for peace between Russia and Ukraine. Additionally, a surprise drop in US crude oil inventories is also supporting this upward trend.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Agency (EIA), U.S. crude oil inventories fell sharply by 6 million barrels last week, more than three times the 1.8 million barrel drop forecast by analysts in a previous Reuters survey. In addition, stalled peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are putting pressure on the energy market.

In other developments, according to Bloomberg, India has stated it will continue to purchase crude oil from Russia, provided it is financially viable. This statement comes amid concerns that the US may raise import tariffs on Russian oil to as much as 50%.
