On June 16th, speaking with a VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Luong Hong Linh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Phong Ward (Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province) said that they had summoned the owner of the chicken rice restaurant who had argued with tourists for questioning.
Previously, a video circulating on social media showed an altercation between the owner of AH chicken rice restaurant (Hoi An City) and a customer. The clip received thousands of interactions, with many expressing dissatisfaction with the rude behavior of the restaurant owner.
Some people argue that a vendor's foul language and aggressive attitude towards customers inadvertently tarnishes the image of Hoi An, a famous tourist city known for its friendliness and hospitality.
Upon receiving the information, the People's Committee of Son Phong Ward immediately invited Ms. TTTH (the owner of the chicken rice restaurant featured in the clip) to verify the incident.

According to Ms. H.'s statement to the authorities, on the afternoon of June 11th, her husband, Mr. A., received a phone call from customers who had reserved a table for 12 people (from the North) and they scheduled to arrive at the restaurant for dinner at 7 PM that same day. However, Mr. A. did not inform his wife so she could prepare.
At 7:30 PM, a customer called again to ask about the meal order, and only then did Mr. A. remember and put the call on speakerphone so Mrs. H. could hear and figure out how to handle it.
At this point, Mrs. H. reproached her husband for not informing her in advance so they could prepare properly for the guests.
Ms. H. also told the customer who was on the phone that if they arrived late, the food would be gone, although the restaurant still had 12 servings ready.
At 7:40 PM that same day, a woman came and stood outside the restaurant, calling out. Because her accent was from a different locality, Mrs. H. couldn't hear clearly and mistakenly thought it was a passerby. However, at that time, the restaurant had run out of food (except for the food already prepared for the group of customers), so she just looked up and replied: "We're out of rice."

Due to this misunderstanding, the female customer raised her voice at the owner, leading to an argument. Afterward, the customer threw a plate, pointed her finger at the owner, and then went outside the restaurant to continue cursing.
Outraged, Mrs. H. spoke rudely to the customer. Seeing his wife and the customer arguing, Mr. A. proactively apologized to the customer, taking the blame himself. Afterward, the customer left the restaurant without eating.
The owner of the chicken rice restaurant also admitted to using rude language towards the customer but claimed that the video, when circulated online, was edited, incomplete, and not objective.
Following Ms. H.'s explanation, Son Phong ward authorities began verifying witness accounts and reviewing CCTV footage from the chicken rice restaurant. However, they have yet to contact the tourist involved.
For the time being, local authorities have requested the owner of the AH chicken rice restaurant to learn from this experience in their behavior and speech, and to avoid being hot-tempered with customers, in order to preserve the image of Hoi An as a hospitable and kind-hearted place.
