The education sector in the capital city has fulfilled its mission well.

On the morning of November 12th, at the National Convention Center, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Capital's education and training sector, the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, and to receive the First-Class Labor Medal.

At the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Kim Son remarked that, over 70 years of development, Hanoi's education and training sector has continuously strived, successfully completing assigned tasks and fulfilling its mission with the determination to comprehensively improve the quality of education, develop human resources, and train high-quality human resources for the capital and the country. The Hanoi education and training sector has always been one of the pioneering units, leading the way in all tasks of the entire sector.

In particular, since 2008, Hanoi has expanded its administrative boundaries. Although facing many challenges during the adjustment process, the quality of education has continued to be maintained and improved, and discipline and order have been strengthened. Hanoi's education has combined the best of the capital with the rich traditional education of the Doai region.

As the leading education sector in the capital city of the country, Hanoi's education and training sector has continuously strived to promote the proactive, innovative capabilities of its entire staff of administrators, teachers, employees, and students, successfully fulfilling the development requirements of the capital city.

Currently, Hanoi's education system accounts for over 10% of the national education system, with nearly 3,000 institutions at all levels, approximately 130,000 teachers, and nearly 2.3 million students. Hanoi is also home to 120 universities and colleges with nearly 1 million students.

With the largest education system in the country, Hanoi's school network is constantly expanding, becoming increasingly modern and well-equipped, with a growing percentage of schools meeting national and international standards. Hanoi's education system is gradually meeting the learning needs of the capital's children, both in formal and continuing education, and in raising the intellectual level of the population and nurturing talent.

Hanoi is one of the places that has actively and systematically implemented the 2018 General Education Program effectively. The quality of comprehensive education and mass education has continuously improved, while advanced education consistently ranks first nationwide with nearly 2,500 awards at national student competitions and medals at international competitions.

The achievements of Hanoi's education sector over the past 70 years are an important foundation, creating momentum for the sector to continue developing, overcoming new challenges and fulfilling new missions to meet the development needs of the capital in the new era. With significant contributions to the development of the capital and the country, the Hanoi Education and Training sector is honored to have received prestigious awards and titles from the President of Vietnam : the First-Class Independence Order; and the First-Class Labor Order.

Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son emphasized: “Hanoi's education always faces high demands, high requirements, high standards, exemplary conduct, pioneering spirit, top-notch quality, and serves as a model for education nationwide. Therefore, what Hanoi's education has achieved and been recognized for in the past must be considered exponentially and in terms of added value in the recognition and evaluation. To achieve these great results, besides the efforts of all cadres, teachers, and students, a very important part is thanks to the close and comprehensive guidance of the City's leaders, the City Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee, and the entire political system of the City.”

Continuing to be a pioneer in education nationwide.

Our country is on the path of development, and education and training are constantly innovating and improving in quality. In this new era, with a thousand-year history and 70 years of modern tradition, the Minister of Education and Training expressed his wish that the education sector in the capital city would continue its tradition, remaining a model and pioneer for education nationwide.

According to the Minister, current education emphasizes the holistic development of the individual as its central goal. In this holistic development, Hanoi's education needs to aim for a higher standard than the national average, focusing on cultivating and nurturing elegant, cultured, socially responsible citizens who know how to live happily for themselves and their communities. These are citizens with high cultural qualities, skills in science and technology, civilized and elegant citizens in the digital age, with strong professional expertise and excellent foreign language skills.

To achieve this, the education system in the capital must aim for elegance. This means that schools must be elegant schools, and teachers and students must be elegant. Schools must be places where learners are guaranteed safety, free from school violence, foul language, and forced extra classes. Social ills must be avoided, and a model of a cultured school environment must exist. Most importantly, people must treat each other with love and responsibility.

To have an elegant education system, it is necessary to effectively implement educational culture and cultural education. The elegance of education can be built upon the positive achievements we already have and are currently experiencing.

At the same time, Minister Nguyen Kim Son noted that Hanoi's education system needs to focus on addressing urgent issues such as reducing the gap in educational quality between different regions and schools; reducing the gap between the results of advanced education and mass education so that students in any region, school, and class can access the best educational environment and quality. Only through a refined education system, oriented towards international standards, can we cultivate civilized and elegant citizens of Hanoi in the new era.

Facing a new stage of development, Hanoi's education sector needs to build upon its achievements, continue to innovate more strongly and comprehensively in teaching methods and management to continuously improve the overall quality of education.

"I hope that the leaders of Hanoi will continue to pay more attention to and invest more in education through policies that provide better support and care for teachers; by renovating and building classrooms with complete equipment, making them more spacious and modern, and utilizing the regulations in the newly enacted Law on the Capital City to take care of education," Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son expressed.
