Project 6 on preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development under the National Target Program on Socio -Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the period 2021 - 2030, Phase I: from 2021 to 2025 according to Decision No. 1719 (referred to as Project 6) has been implemented in the whole province since 2022 and has brought many values to the beneficiary localities.
In Lak district, many activities have been carried out so far, such as renovating, upgrading and expanding the Sruong village cultural house (Bong Krang commune); building a typical tourist destination in Jun village (Lien Son town); organizing classes to teach traditional handicrafts such as weaving, classes to teach basic skills of gong playing and folk dancing (Yang Tao commune); researching, restoring, preserving and promoting the M'nong ethnic handicraft of pottery making (Dong Bak village, Yang Tao commune); organizing the water wharf worship ceremony of the M'nong people in Jun village (Lien Son town); supporting the activities of two traditional art troupes in Cuor Tak village (Yang Tao commune and T'long village (Dak Phoi commune)...

One of the activities that has achieved remarkable results is the research, restoration, preservation and promotion of the M'nong ethnic handicraft pottery (Dong Bak village, Yang Tao commune). In 2024, from the funding of Project 6, more than 20 M'nong women in Dong Bak village were taught the traditional pottery craft, thereby creating jobs, improving income for the people and preserving and promoting the traditional handicraft.
The team of pottery artisans, both young and old, not only practice and perform this traditional craft locally but also regularly participate in cultural programs, exchanges, and tourism promotion in and outside the province, and are loved by many people. Artisan H'Phiet Uong (Yang Tao commune, Lak district) confided: "It's very fun to perform like that, many people love the rusticity and simplicity of the pottery we make and the unique way of making it...". Through many efforts, preservation and promotion, the pottery making craft of the M'nong people, Yang Tao commune (Lak district) has been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Mr. Lai Duc Dai, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the implementation of Project 6 in recent years can be said to be an effective solution for the cultural sector and localities to effectively preserve and promote the unique cultural values of ethnic minorities; creating a driving force for these values to increasingly spread and come into practice.
In addition to Project 6, every year, local grassroots levels organize cultural exchanges and festivals of gongs, folk songs, folk dances, traditional musical instruments, and mass art festivals... This cultural exchange also expands between ethnic groups in the province and other localities in the country.

With the Gong Cultural Space, after many years of focusing on conservation and mobilizing investment for development, the province has achieved many positive results. Up to now, from many funding sources and projects, the cultural sector has provided more than 200 sets of gongs and 986 traditional costumes for ethnic minority villages; organized more than 130 classes on gong playing; restored more than 140 traditional rituals and festivals associated with gongs; organized regular performances of gong cultural programs to serve the people and tourists at the Provincial Cultural Center, along with many activities related to the conservation of gong culture.
In particular, teaching the younger generation is very interested and supported. In 2022 - 2023, with funding from the Jeollabuk Province International Cooperation Center (Korea), 11 classes were organized to teach gong to students and ethnic minorities at Tay Nguyen University; Krong Ana, Lak, Ea H'leo, Krong Buk districts, each class has 20 - 25 students... From this source, 50 gong clubs and traditional gong teams were established in villages and hamlets; thereby, raising awareness of preserving national cultural identity in the younger generation.
