Gyokeres helps Sporting win national championship

Before entering the decisive match with Vitoria, Sporting had 79 points, equal to Benfica but leading the rankings thanks to a better goal difference.

Benfica travelled to Braga with the task of having to win to overcome their opponents. However, they could only get a disappointing 1-1 draw against Braga.

Seeing a great opportunity, Sporting played with determination against Vitoria. Gyokeres doubled the gap, helping the club officially defend the national championship title for the 2024/25 season.

Gyokeres also won the top scorer award for the second consecutive year at Sporting with 39 goals after 34 rounds. This number increased significantly compared to last season (29 goals). If counting in all arenas, Gyokeres scored 53 goals in 51 matches.

In the race for the European Golden Shoe, Gyokeres leads with 58.5 points, followed by Kylian Mbappe and Mohamed Salah (both 56 points).

With his impressive form, Gyokeres is becoming the target of many big clubs, including Arsenal. The London team is said to have made an offer of 75 million euros to recruit the Swedish striker.

The win over Benfica brought joy to Sporting fans and sparked wild celebrations on the streets of Lisbon, but keeping a star like Gyokeres this summer is a huge challenge for the club.
