Hanoi: House fire at night, 4 people in a family died

At around 4:40 a.m. on September 16, a serious fire broke out in Van Giap village, Thuong Tin commune, Hanoi, killing four people in the same family, including a four-month-old baby.

At the time of the fire, the entire family, including the homeowner, his wife and two small children, were sleeping. Because the fire broke out so quickly, the victims did not have time to escape.

Immediately after receiving the news, the Hanoi City Police Command Information Center mobilized nearly 50 officers and soldiers from firefighting and rescue teams of areas 5, 31, 32, along with 7 fire trucks, 1 truck carrying specialized vehicles and 113 police force to the scene.

By about 5:30 a.m. the same day, the fire was completely extinguished. Authorities discovered and handed over the bodies of four victims to medical authorities.

Although this house has two escape doors, they are located quite high up, so the victims may not have had time to escape from here.

According to official information from Hanoi City Police, the house that caught fire has a temporary structure, steel frame, corrugated iron roof, about 5m high, floor area of ​​about 90m², with an emergency exit. This is an illegal construction on agricultural land in Thuong Tin commune.

Although fire fighting and rescue work was carried out urgently and promptly, the fire still caused tragic consequences.

The fire caused the house's roof to deform.

Hanoi City Police recommend that people, especially households living in narrow spaces or temporary houses, need to equip themselves with early fire alarms, on-site fire fighting equipment and raise awareness of prevention, especially at night.

Some of the surrounding trees were also burned dry.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
