Hanoi is experiencing cold, dry days, with average daytime temperatures ranging from 18 to 25 degrees Celsius. Nighttime and early morning temperatures drop sharply, below 15 degrees Celsius. From now until the weekend, Hanoi will have rain, with temperatures ranging from 19 to 25 degrees Celsius.
The large temperature difference between day and night, combined with the phenomenon of temperature inversion “covering” the atmosphere, makes it difficult for fine dust to escape to high altitudes. The air layer is compressed, so the pollution lasts long, sticks close to the ground and directly affects people’s lives, especially increasing the risk of respiratory diseases.

One of the solutions proposed by the Hanoi People's Committee to reduce pollution and dust in residential areas, parks and roads is to pilot mist spraying and street washing (illustrative photo).
Yesterday, December 2, Hanoi recorded an alarming level of pollution , ranking among the top 10 most polluted cities in the world . To control the air pollution problem in the area, Hanoi has directed the authorities to deploy many urgent measures.
One of the solutions implemented by the Hanoi People's Committee is to assign the Department of Construction to research and pilot misting technology to reduce dust in residential areas, parks and roads.
The Department of Construction is also assigned to strengthen supervision, requiring 100% of construction sites to have strict dust control measures; loose construction waste must be covered, sealed or sealed in bags at the collection point in the construction site and during transportation...
Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to coordinate with units to strengthen the use of monitoring systems, technological solutions and remote monitoring technical capacity (satellite remote sensing, remote sensing using unmanned aerial vehicles, traffic cameras, drones, mobile applications such as iHanoi, social networks...) to control and strictly handle open burning activities (burning garbage, burning straw, agricultural by-products).
Notably, the Hanoi People's Committee has assigned the Department of Education and Training to notify and instruct schools to limit outdoor activities for students during hours and days when air quality is at "bad" or higher levels.
“In case of serious air pollution (VN_AQI ≥ 301), instruct schools to temporarily suspend or adjust working and studying hours,” the Hanoi People's Committee assigned.
Other relevant departments, agencies and sectors were also assigned by the Hanoi People's Committee to carry out many tasks to control pollution problems.
For communes and wards, the Chairman of the People's Committee is fully responsible for managing air quality for dust and gas emission sources.
The police force at the commune and ward levels plays the core role, coordinating with functional units to strengthen patrols, control, detect and strictly handle according to the law the acts of burning solid waste, burning straw, agricultural by-products in violation of regulations, and completely stop the use of honeycomb charcoal stoves.
The Hanoi People's Committee assigned communes and wards to proactively and promptly decide on directing environmental sanitation units to implement measures to strengthen environmental sanitation in localities.
Solutions include increasing the frequency of street sweeping and vacuuming; using specialized vehicles to spray water to clean the streets and suppress dust at main traffic routes and urban gateways. Street sweeping and vacuuming activities are prioritized during off-peak hours (night and early morning, before 6am every day)...
