In February 1978, at house number 1137 on West 119th Street in the West Athens area of Los Angeles, California (USA), two children were digging in the backyard. While playing, they accidentally saw a piece of iron exposed underground. The two children thought it was a treasure, so they called their parents to come and see.

Their parents quickly contacted the local police and two police officers were dispatched. They also contacted the local government to request an excavator to inspect the scene.

After a while of digging, the “treasure” was finally revealed. Surprisingly, under the layer of mud was a car.

Finally after cleaning, they realized this was a 1974 Ferrari Dino 264 GTS worth up to 110,000 USD (more than 2.6 billion VND at the current exchange rate).

The muddy vintage Ferrari was covered with a sheet. It looked like someone had deliberately hidden the car there to come back and claim it someday.

The story of the Ferrari buried underground quickly attracted media attention. Some even said that the Ferrari was a tool of sacrifice, other information said that a woman before dying asked her husband to bury the car with her.

The owner of the car was found a few months later. The mysterious Ferrari belonged to a plumber named Rosendo Cruz of Alhambra, California. It was stolen two months after he bought it.

Mr. Cruz bought the car as a birthday present for his wife. The couple parked on the street while going to eat at the Brown Derby restaurant on Wilshire Boulevard. When the couple returned from a romantic dinner, the car was gone.

The stolen car report was still kept at the Rampart Division of the Los Angeles Police Department, but no information about the car was known until it was found by the two boys.

Finally, after a lot of restoration and repair, the Ferrari can start up and drive on the streets again. It also has a very cool new nameplate - DUG UP, so that everyone can recognize it every time they go out on the street.
