From May 13 to 20, the first National Stage Arts Festival for children and teenagers in 2024 will take place in Hai Phong City. The festival is organized by the Vietnam Stage Artists Association in coordination with the People's Committee of Hai Phong City and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City.
The festival has 14 art units with 17 works. The participating units include: Hai Phong Puppetry Art Troupe, Vietnam Youth Theatre, Thanh Hoa Traditional Art Theatre, Lam Son Thanh Hoa Dance and Drama Theatre, Hai Phong Drama Troupe, Hanoi Circus and Variety Arts Theatre, Vietnam Drama Theatre, Hanoi Drama Theatre, Vietnam Center for Preservation and Development of Stage Arts, Hanoi Cheo Theatre, Bac Giang Cheo Theatre, Sen Viet Art Troupe, Vietnam Circus Federation, Ho Chi Minh City Magic Troupe.
The Emperor's New Clothes will be featured in the Children's Theatre Festival.
Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, said that organizing this national stage festival is a start for paying more attention to children's stage. To do this, the Association has also had fundamental plans for many years. Most recently, last year, the Association organized a contest for writing stage scripts for teenagers and children, many works in this contest will also be staged in the first upcoming festival.
According to Mr. Chuong, this year the Vietnam Stage Artists Association did not participate in judging the contest, but let those working in the field of children's theater judge. These are scriptwriters and actors with creative experience in children's theater activities.
Regarding the awards, the value of the National Stage Arts Festival for children and teenagers will be equivalent to the awards at the Stage Arts Festival for adults. Accordingly, the awards will be 5 million VND for the silver prize, 7 million VND for the gold prize, and 30 million VND for the excellent performance.
