On December 9, South Korean Unification Ministry spokesman Koo Byoung Sam said that after monitoring with relevant agencies through satellite and conventional observations, they determined that North Korea was illegally operating equipment of more than 30 South Korean enterprises located at the Kaesong inter-Korean industrial park.
Along with that, Pyongyang completely demolished the remaining part of the Inter-Korean Liaison Office headquarters that it had blown up in 2020.
The South Korean Unification Ministry stressed that the above actions violate the inter-Korean agreement and damage the foundation of trust and mutual respect between the two Koreas.
Seoul once again urged Pyongyang to stop its actions that infringe upon the property rights of South Korean people, businesses and the government .
The inter-Korean liaison office was established in the Kaesong industrial complex under the April 27, 2018 Declaration.
However, due to prolonged tensions, Pyongyang partially demolished the structure on June 16, 2020, and has since abandoned the facility.
In June this year, the South Korean government filed a lawsuit, demanding that North Korea pay damages of up to 44.7 billion won (34.2 million USD).
There is currently no information on how North Korea will respond to this accusation.
