Thousands of youth union members dredged canals, responding to the national irrigation day

TPO – More than 8,500 youth union members from Thanh Chuong district (Nghe An) responded to the national irrigation campaign, dredging canals and ditches, and building new embankments in the fields to prepare for the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring agricultural production.

Responding to the national irrigation day on October 16, continuously in the past few days, together with communes, youth forces of Thanh Chuong district ( Nghe An ) and high schools in the area have coordinated to participate in traffic and irrigation work.

Thanh Chuong district has more than 8,500 youth union members participating. The major forces are the District Union, Commune Union and branches at high schools in the area.

Including youth union members from Cat Ngan High School, Thanh Chuong 3 High School, Thanh Chuong 1 High School, Dang Thuc Hua High School, Dang Thai Mai High School, Nguyen Canh Chan High School, Nguyen Sy Sach High School, and Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center. The youth union members have deployed to work in Thanh Linh, Thanh Xuan, Thanh Ha, Thanh Duong, Thanh Dong, Dai Dong, Thanh Lam...

At irrigation ditches in residential areas, youth union members in coordination with communes focused on maintaining, repairing, and fixing damaged structures and areas at potential risk of incidents.

Public areas are cleaned of trash, grass trimmed, and landscaped by youth union members to create a clean, green environment.

At the irrigation canals in the fields, the youth union members repaired and dredged the irrigation and drainage canal system and the suction tanks of the irrigation pumping stations.

Organize the construction of additional and new embankments of the regional and field embankments to prepare for agricultural production in the 2024 Winter crop and the 2025 Spring crop in the entire district.

Despite the hot weather, the youth union members are still working hard.

The ditches were dredged of the accumulated mud and dirt inside.

Dredged irrigation canals can facilitate irrigation water supply and agricultural production.

Previously, Thanh Chuong district also launched a campaign for the entire population to do irrigation. According to the plan, the whole district strives to achieve: Volume of dredging mud and soil on traffic ditches: 30,000 m3. Dredging of drainage canals in the fields: 32,000 m3. Digging and filling embankments, field embankments, and internal roads: 11,000 m3. Filling graded soil, pouring concrete on rural roads: 10,000 m3. Clearing trees, bushes, etc.: 110,000 m2. Reinforcing canals: 6,000 m. Total number of working days: 40,000 working days. Estimated cost is over 20 billion VND.
