On the occasion of attending the 2023 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit Week and combining bilateral activities in the United States, on the afternoon of November 14 (local time), President Vo Van Thuong and his wife met with officials and staff of the following agencies: the Vietnamese Embassy in the United States; the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations and Vietnamese representative agencies in San Francisco and Houston.
Speaking at the meeting,President Vo Van Thuong emphasized the Party and State's foreign policy of diversification and multilateralization in international relations; Vietnam's foreign affairs activities in recent times have been very vibrant, positive and effective, enhancing Vietnam's role, position and prestige in the international arena.
The President highly appreciated the contribution of the diplomatic sector to that great achievement, including the Vietnamese diplomatic representative agencies in the United States. In recent times, despite many difficulties, the Vietnamese representative agencies in the United States have made efforts to promote bilateral relations in many fields, especially contributing to the good preparation for upgrading the Vietnam - US relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; participating in the good preparation for the program of attending the APEC Summit Week of the President and ministries, branches and localities.

President Vo Van Thuong said that the upgrading of Vietnam-US relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership brings great cooperation opportunities between the two countries in economics, trade, investment, education, science, production, participation in the supply chain of high-quality goods; connections between businesses and localities are important, contributing to the realization of high-level commitments and agreements.
Regarding the Vietnamese Permanent Delegation to the United Nations, President Vo Van Thuong suggested that it is necessary to contribute to expanding Vietnam's relations with international organizations, strengthening the establishment of cooperative partners, and enhancing Vietnam's international position and prestige.
Vietnamese representative agencies in San Francisco and Houston promote cooperation between Vietnamese localities and US localities, encouraging overseas Vietnamese to invest in the country.
The President and his wife are expected to pay an official visit to Japan from November 27 to 30.
On November 15, answering a reporter's question about Japan's announcement of the visit of President Vo Van Thuong and his wife to Japan, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that it is expected that President Vo Van Thuong and his wife will pay an official visit to Japan from November 27 to 30 at the invitation of the Japanese government.
Vietnam believes that President Vo Van Thuong's visit will contribute to further deepening the bilateral relationship, bringing the Vietnam-Japan relationship to a new height, in a practical, effective and long-term manner in all fields, for peace, stability and development in each country as well as in the region and the world.
