Effectiveness of the month of action on occupational safety and hygiene

Strengthening measures to ensure occupational safety and health is identified as one of the important activities to help businesses stabilize production. In recent years, trade unions at all levels in the province have proactively developed plans and consulted with the government, departments, branches, and business owners to promote activities to prevent and control occupational safety and health risks.

Looking back at the effectiveness of the Month of Action on Labor Safety and Hygiene and Workers' Month 2024 in Quang Tri province shows that the situation of labor accidents and fires and explosions in the province has been prevented, contributing to curbing the increase in labor accidents and minimizing human losses.

Thereby, helping to stabilize the security situation, social order and safety in the area; protect the environment, life and health of workers and the community. Many training courses on occupational safety and health have been organized. Hundreds of grassroots trade union officials and the network of occupational safety and hygiene workers, officers working in occupational health ... have been propagandized and trained in occupational safety and health, monitoring the working environment, managing occupational diseases and establishing records of occupational environmental hygiene, and training in occupational safety and health - fire prevention and fighting...

The Provincial Federation of Labor (FFL) has directed trade unions at all levels to strengthen propaganda and dissemination of OSH work; organize the signing of emulation commitments to ensure OSH, the movement "Green - clean - beautiful, ensuring OSH" at agencies, units and enterprises; organize competitions, activities on the Law Day and visual propaganda through the "Labor Protection Corner"; distribute documents, handbooks, posters, leaflets, hang banners, slogans and post news and articles on OSH activities on mass media, the Provincial Union's electronic information page and Facebook pages of trade unions at all levels. Trade unions at all levels have organized 13 classes to propagate labor law, the Law on OSH; coordinated to organize 3 training classes on OSH for 181 people.

The Provincial Federation of Labor and the District Federation of Labor have coordinated with relevant functional agencies to conduct 23 inspections, checks and supervisions of compliance with occupational safety and health laws at enterprises in the province. Thereby promptly reminding and guiding enterprises to strictly comply with occupational safety and health regulations; implementing measures to control risk factors causing occupational accidents and diseases...

The grassroots trade unions of enterprises proactively coordinate with employers to effectively implement the following contents: developing plans, regulations, procedures, and measures to ensure occupational safety and health; establishing a network of occupational safety and health workers; organizing occupational safety and health training, periodic health check-ups for workers; signing commitments to ensure occupational safety and health between teams and departments; organizing self-inspection of occupational safety and health work, assessing risks and hazards at the workplace.

The 2025 Occupational Safety and Health Action Month with the theme "Strengthening assessment, identification of hazards and risks and proactively implementing measures to ensure occupational safety and health at the workplace" will be implemented from May 1 to 31, 2025.

The goal of this year's action month is to create a peak period of propaganda, raising awareness and compliance with occupational safety and health laws for employees and employers through information, propaganda activities, and specific action programs on occupational safety and health; promote specific activities to prevent occupational accidents and diseases; improve working conditions, launch emulation, promote mass movements to do occupational safety and health work, contributing to building a safe environment at the workplace.

To achieve the above objectives, the Provincial Federation of Labor and relevant agencies will focus on disseminating, popularizing and raising awareness among employers, officials, union members and employees about the role and importance of occupational safety and health; the rights and obligations of employees and employers in occupational safety and health; the role and responsibility of trade unions in participating with employers in improving working conditions, preventing incidents, occupational accidents and occupational diseases.

Coordinate the organization of consulting, training and coaching activities on occupational safety and health for employers and employees in line with the characteristics and production characteristics of the industry, profession and field, especially in high-risk jobs; propose to employers to pay attention to improving working conditions, building a safe, "green - clean - beautiful, ensuring occupational safety and health" working environment; raise awareness of compliance with regulations, procedures and measures to ensure occupational safety and health at the workplace.

Coordinate the inspection and examination of compliance with the provisions of the law on occupational safety and health, especially activities such as: monitoring the working environment, periodic health check-ups and occupational disease examinations; occupational safety and health training; inspection of machinery, equipment and materials with strict requirements on occupational safety and health; focus on monitoring the results of remedial measures after inspection, examination and supervision.

Coordinate the organization of periodic health examinations and occupational diseases for workers. Organize activities to visit and give gifts to victims and their families of occupational accidents and diseases to promptly share the losses and encourage families to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives and work.

Launching emulation movements on occupational safety and health, mass movements to do occupational safety and health work; innovating the content and methods of implementing the movement "Green - clean - beautiful, ensuring occupational safety and health" practically, effectively, suitable to the new situation.
