Principal and vice principal are officially on summer vacation.

This is a content in the circular regulating the working regime for general education teachers issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, effective from April 22.

Accordingly, the annual leave of the principal and vice principal includes summer vacation, holidays, Tet and other holidays as prescribed by the Labor Code and the Law on Social Insurance.

The summer vacation time of the principal and vice principal is flexibly arranged during the school year and during the summer vacation period of teachers, in order to maintain the normal operation of the school and promptly carry out tasks summoned by the superior management agency (if any).

This leave schedule must be reported to the competent management authority or according to the hierarchy.

During the school year, the principal, vice principal, and teachers of general schools work 42 weeks, of which the number of weeks teaching the contents of the generaleducation program is 37 weeks (including 35 weeks of actual teaching and 2 weeks of reserve); 3 weeks of studying and improving qualifications; 2 weeks of preparing for the new school year and summarizing the school year.

This is the first time the summer vacation time of the principal and vice principal has been clearly regulated.

The principal of a middle school in Hanoi said that in previous years, the principal and vice principal could still take summer vacation, but were always in a state of anxiety.

"Previously, when there was no clear regulation, during the summer, students and teachers had a break, but the school board still took turns being on duty throughout the day because they had just finished organizing the 10th grade entrance exam and then recruiting students, so work just kept coming," he said.
