Higashino Keigo (born 1958 in Osaka city) is a leading Japanese detective writer today. His works are often translated in Vietnam.
With a clear writing style that delves into the creative psychological analysis of characters, Higashino Keigo gives readers more than a detective novel. Describing crimes, arranging disjointed details in a logical manner with sharp arguments to expose the culprit... are not his priorities. His works delve into inner struggles, deep concerns about human fate. He does not care about ending his works completely, or bringing cases to light. He also does not answer the questions he himself raises, does not judge the way the characters handle problems right or wrong. What remains in the reader's heart when closing the book is all the emotions the characters have had to go through. That is what makes him different from other detective story writers.

Among the works introduced in Vietnam, Behind the Suspect X and White Night Walk are two books that have raised the name Higashino Keigo to Vietnamese readers. Behind the Suspect X is his most famous work, winning many awards in Japan and around the world . The work is unique because it is not like a classic detective story, searching for the murderer as usual, but the murderer's identity is revealed from the beginning. The difficult problem lies in the alibi, how to expose the murderer's method of committing the crime. How to solve the question in this case is as difficult as how to find the solution to the unknown X in a difficult math problem. The story also includes passionate love, unfulfilled ambitions and the weary dragging in the lives of each character.
White Night Walk begins with a murder case and the suicide of the suspect. The police had to close the investigation when all the clues came to a dead end. Behind the two deaths lies a secret and they are not the end, but on the contrary, they are the beginning of a series of tragedies. The whole story is covered by a gloomy and dark atmosphere. Sin follows sin, like a swamp that struggles deeper and deeper. With his talent, Keigo's pen makes the readers not hate those who committed murder, but instead feel pity and sympathy. He uses detective as the opening story but takes the character's psychology as the center of the whole story.
Compared to classic detective authors such as: Agatha Christie, Conan Doyle or the best-selling author Jeffery Deaver, Higashino Keigo's works have a separate position. The novels introduced such as: Miracles of the Namiya General Store, Naoko's Secret, Silent Parade, One-sided ... have created a name Higashino Keigo, a unique non-traditional detective literature of Japan.
