The activity is within the framework of the Project "Emergency support for vulnerable smallholder farmers who have lost the ability to ensure food security due to the impact of floods caused by storm Yagi in the North" sponsored by FAO in Vietnam.

Accordingly, 754 households in 3 communes: Minh Quan, Quy Mong, Thanh Thinh (Tran Yen district) received financial support from FAO in Vietnam, with a total cost of nearly 1.76 billion VND to rehabilitate agricultural land buried after storm Yagi.

Of which, Minh Quan commune has 160 households benefiting from about 400 million VND; Quy Mong commune has 292 households benefiting from about 636 million VND; Thanh Thinh commune has 302 households benefiting from about 723 million VND. The supported financial resources will be used by people to restore production, continue farming, and ensure sustainable livelihoods.

Speaking at the distribution point in Minh Quan commune, Deputy Director of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Nguyen Van Tien emphasized that after typhoon Yagi, FAO in Vietnam is one of the pioneering international organizations in supporting disaster recovery in affected localities.

Previously, in early November 2024, this organization also supported 3.3 billion VND to 1,036 households in Yen Bai province to pay for essential needs and food, contributing to helping people stabilize their lives during natural disasters.

Mr. Nguyen Song Ha, Assistant Chief Representative of FAO in Vietnam, affirmed that this financial allocation is a testament to the organization's strong commitment to the Vietnamese Government in supporting people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, especially helping vulnerable farming households quickly stabilize their lives and restore production.

In the coming time, FAO in Vietnam will continue to coordinate with the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and relevant agencies of Yen Bai province to deploy assessments and improve the effectiveness of the early warning system and the threshold for early action to minimize future disaster risks.
