By the end of September 2025, the total capital implemented in Thai Nguyen by the Provincial Social Policy Bank Branch was more than 9,111 billion VND, the number of households with outstanding debt was 125,047 households.

The recent storms No. 10 and No. 11 have caused severe damage over a large area in Thai Nguyen province; therefore, it is inevitable that many households that have borrowed policy credit for production will fall into difficult situations, especially when among the total number of households with outstanding debt, there are more than 20,800 poor households, more than 12,800 near-poor households, and more than 10,000 households that have just escaped poverty.

Faced with this situation, immediately after the natural disaster subsided, Director of the Thai Nguyen Province Social Policy Bank Branch Pham Tuan Hung directed transaction offices and relevant departments to urgently review and carefully assess the damage situation of loan customers to promptly apply support measures and remove difficulties for borrowers. The guiding spirit is to ensure that all loan customers who suffered damage due to natural disasters are reviewed and handled for risky debts according to regulations.

According to Deputy Director of the branch Hoang Dinh Nhuan, the review results show that the whole province has 19,861 customers affected by natural disasters. These households currently have outstanding debt of more than 1,275 billion VND in 28,881 loans, including: More than 1,272 billion VND in principal and more than 2.4 billion VND in interest.

The Thai Nguyen branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies has compiled a report from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to develop a plan to handle risky debts. Accordingly, the branch is expected to write off 211 loans with an amount of more than 12 billion VND.

In parallel with supporting customers at risk due to natural disasters, the branch is also focusing on coordinating with local authorities, political and social organizations to review and provide loans so that eligible households can have capital to restore production after being affected by natural disasters.

In the context that Thai Nguyen province has just experienced flooding due to the impact of storm No. 11, causing heavy damage of more than 12,200 billion VND, the position and role of policy credit capital is given top priority.

Handling risky debt due to natural disasters, along with continuing to "support" with new capital sources, will create motivation for poor and near-poor households and policy beneficiaries in this locality to rise up, overcome difficulties, and escape poverty sustainably in the coming time.
