Identifying supporting members in economic development as one of the important tasks, the Association of War Veterans at all levels in Nam Truc district has encouraged members to uphold the spirit of self-reliance, self-strengthening, overcoming difficulties to escape poverty, and legitimately enrich themselves; widely launched the movement "War Veterans help each other reduce poverty, do good business"; strengthened propaganda, mobilized members to find new economic development directions, shift production structure based on local conditions and strengths; coordinated with relevant sectors to open training courses, organize visits for members to economic models, good production households in and outside the district. Along with that, the Association at all levels regularly inspects and evaluates the current living conditions of members, especially members in difficult circumstances, to develop plans to help and support; build criteria for striving to do good business in each grassroots unit, association branch and member's family; create conditions for members to access and effectively use loan sources... To support members, especially members in difficult circumstances to develop the economy, the Association at all levels regularly organizes activities to visit and give gifts to poor members; donate to support sick and seriously ill members; give gifts and scholarships to children of war veterans and veterans in difficult circumstances who have overcome difficulties to study well. From 2024 to present, on holidays, New Year, commemorating War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27)..., the District War Veterans Association coordinates with the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, the Fatherland Front, and functional agencies to organize visits and give gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war veterans, war veterans who are wounded, sick soldiers, Agent Orange victims in difficult circumstances, and policy families... On the occasion of the Lunar New Year At Ty 2025, the whole district gave away over 100 gifts. On the occasion of the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2024), the District War Veterans Association organized the presentation of 20 gifts, worth 500,000 VND/gift, to 20 families of war invalids and martyrs in difficult circumstances; War Veterans Associations of communes and towns presented 76 gifts. The movement to help students who are children and grandchildren of war invalids, sick soldiers, and war veterans with high academic achievements continues to be promoted by the Association at all levels. Also from the beginning of 2024 up to now, the whole district has organized the presentation of gifts and awards to 20 students who are children of poor war veterans who have overcome difficulties and studied well with a total amount of 14 million VND. To help members in especially difficult housing circumstances, the District War Veterans Association inaugurated and handed over gratitude houses to the families of the members: Vu Xuyen, Thanh Khe village, Nam Cuong commune, Cao Van Minh, village 4, Nam Hai commune and Tran Quang Duyen, Nam Thang commune; Continue to survey cases of unsafe houses to support new construction and repair.
To support members in economic development, the district Veterans Association at all levels promotes the movement "War veterans help each other reduce poverty, do good business", mobilizing members to take the lead in implementing "land accumulation" in agricultural production, linking to implement large-scale model fields, applying high technology to agricultural production to create production areas with high economic value, increasing productivity and product quality. On the other hand, the Veterans Association at all levels encourages cadres and members to promote their potential, focus on available resources, boldly invest capital and technology to develop traditional industries that are strengths of the locality such as: flowers, ornamental plants, production of construction materials, production of fine art wooden furniture, trade, services...; coordinates with related sectors to open training courses, organize visits for members to economic models, good production households in and outside the district; commends and replicates typical examples of war veterans doing good business; create conditions for members, especially poor members, to access and effectively use loan sources...
To effectively promote capital sources, on the one hand, the Association at all levels widely propagates the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on preferential credit policies for poor households and policy beneficiaries, credit programs for students to cadres and members managed by war veterans; on the other hand, actively participates with the government and organizations in reviewing poor households and policy beneficiaries who are eligible for loans; coordinates with the Social Policy Bank and credit institutions to organize training courses on capital management for savings and loan groups... Therefore, the quality of loan sources is always guaranteed, with no overdue debt. Along with that, the Association at all levels maintains and promotes the establishment of internal funds, "Comradely Arms" Fund, "Charity Activities" Fund... thereby having more funds to visit, give gifts, support members to borrow at low interest rates or no interest rates to develop the economy and stabilize their lives. Officials and members in the district contribute to the association fund at an average of 510 thousand VND/member/year. Many association units have a very high average fund of up to 1 million VND/member/year. Up to now, the district's Association of War Veterans is receiving trust through the Social Policy Bank with a balance of over 38 billion VND for 867 members to borrow. According to the assessment, most households borrowing capital use the capital for the right purpose and effectively. The whole district currently has hundreds of enterprises, cooperatives, cooperative groups, farms, family farms, business establishments... managed by war veterans, creating jobs for over 1,500 workers with an average income of 3.5-5 million VND/person/month. Typical example: War veteran Nguyen Minh Bac, Cau street, Nam Hung commune, opened a VAC farm raising geese and ducks, earning over 500 million VND/year. Long Vy Fine Arts Woodwork Company, Nam Duong Commune, directed by veteran Vu Van Vy, produces household wooden products, with an average annual profit of over 1 billion VND, creating stable and regular jobs for 8-10 workers who are children of veterans. Truong An Textile Company of veteran Dang Van An, Dong Thanh Hamlet, Nam Hong Commune, specializes in producing face towels and napkins for export to the Japanese market, creating stable jobs for nearly 20 workers. Veterans Do Dinh Vang, Vu Manh Hung, Vu Viet Hoa, Vu Duy Chinh... in Nam Dien Commune develop their economy from the traditional bonsai profession, with a revenue of billions of VND/year... Up to now, the rate of well-off and rich veteran households in the district has increased, the rate of poor and near-poor households has decreased by 0.2% annually.
With practical and effective economic development support activities for members, the War Veterans Association at all levels in Nam Truc district has aroused the spirit of dynamism, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, creating motivation to escape poverty, rise up to become rich, affirming the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" of cadres and members in the new era.
