Excellent students compete at the Artificial Intelligence Olympiad

NDO - 99 excellent AI contestants from specialized high schools in provinces and cities and 4 specialized high schools affiliated with universities across the country are about to enter the final round of the National AI Olympiad for students taking place from May 31 to June 2 in Hanoi.

The National Artificial Intelligence Olympic Competition for students is held to promote the movement of learning, creative research, improving collective working skills, and international integration of students in the field of artificial intelligence in high schools nationwide.

The contest contributes to discovering and encouraging young talents in the field of artificial intelligence in the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, which identifies artificial intelligence as one of the spearheads and breakthroughs.

The contest was launched in April 2025, with nearly 150 high school students nationwide meeting the AI ​​competency standards participating in the preliminary round. Most of the students who registered to participate had won high prizes in national and provincial competitions for excellent students in Information Technology; contestants had won prizes and participated in national, provincial and city AI competitions; some students achieved high results in science and technology innovation competitions at all levels.

The preliminary round will be held in the form of multiple-choice tests on May 11 at 5 testing locations at universities in Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Can Tho, and Da Lat. The test consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, focusing on 3 areas: Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and Natural Language Processing (NLP), built on the international curriculum.

Through the preliminary round, 99 excellent candidates in artificial intelligence were selected to enter the final round. The final round took place from May 31 to June 2, hosted by the University of Technology - Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The final round is an individual test, with a 6-hour practice test consisting of 2 tests: Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing using machine learning models according to the practical test content. The test is automatically graded according to international standards on the integrated VNOJ submission system.

According to Official Dispatch No. 596/QLCL-QLT dated April 14, 2025, the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training), the Vietnam Association of Information Technology, in collaboration with the Institute for Innovation Research and Quality Assessment (RIVA), will coordinate with universities/faculties/research institutes that provide training in Artificial Intelligence to select students to participate in the 2025 National Artificial Intelligence Olympiad for students.

According to the Organizing Committee of the competition, it is expected to propose that the Ministry of Education and Training award Certificates of Merit to the highest prizes of the competition; at the same time, propose a list of students with the best exam results to select the Vietnamese delegation to participate in the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad in 2025.

The Research Institute for Innovation and Quality Assessment (RIVA) is the official representative of the AI ​​Olympiad in Vietnam, taking on the role of leading the Vietnamese national team to compete with teams from more than 80 countries around the world at the International AI Olympiad, held in Beijing, China from August 2-9.
