The "Vietnam Business Innovation Challenge 2024" (VBIC) is an intellectual playground for high school students who are passionate about business. Participating in the competition, students from home and abroad will come up with good ideas for businesses.
Students solve problems from real business data
The final round has 13 competing teams, students will receive real data from Land Rover Vietnam (a British luxury off-road vehicle brand), then come up with strategies and directions to help businesses operate effectively.
It is known that in previous rounds, candidates also received actual data from Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) and Hong Hac Drama Theater (HCMC).
Dr. Phan Hoang Lan - Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Fulbright University Vietnam - said that although it was the first time the competition was held, it still attracted many students from both inside and outside the country to participate.
"Not many businesses in Vietnam really trust young people, especially high school students. Therefore, we call on businesses to be open and willing to give them opportunities to have real data, from which they can create ideas.
At the same time, we invite experts in the fields of business development, marketing, finance, sustainable development, innovation, etc. to support the knowledge of the students when participating in the contest," Ms. Lan added.
"By participating in solving problems, you will understand the difficulties of businesses and from there come up with corresponding solutions. It is very important to let young people approach real-life problems. If they only learn theory, it will be difficult for students to quickly approach business problems. When they learn early, they will gain more experience."

More opportunities to access new knowledge
Shun Abe (a Japanese student studying at BIS International School, Ho Chi Minh City) said that by participating in the contest, he gained more knowledge about economics and experience in business activities.
"I learned many skills such as research, teamwork, presentation, and public speaking. As a 10th grader participating in the contest, I also encountered many challenges and difficulties in coming up with general ideas and finding information about the topic.
But the judges' comments were very objective and these advices helped us gain a broader perspective in the business field," Shun Abe added.
Dinh Vu Minh Tuan (student of Vinschool The Harmony, Hanoi) said he was very happy and surprised to make it to the final round.
"We learned how to analyze a company's financial performance, its strengths and weaknesses, and what needs to be overcome to help the company grow. However, we still lack ideas to come up with solutions and benefits for businesses," Tuan said.
"This is the first time I have participated in the competition. We have many opportunities to approach new knowledge, face challenges that high school students have never thought of, and learn how to solve problems creatively. Participating in the competition, I got to know many friends, and learned many perspectives from other groups."
