Over the past 5 years, the Women's Union at all levels in the district has organized 365 propaganda activities, political education, ideological education, traditional education, improving knowledge and skills for more than 35,000 participants. The District Women's Union has always paid attention to training and knowledge improvement for members and women.
The Association continues to maintain the model of "Accompanying the grassroots association"; "Outstanding and typical association"; "Women's group disseminating andeducating the law among ethnic minorities"; "Ethnic women's club with family life"; "Khmer women's group not violating the law and social evils"; "Women's intellectual club"... effective models, attracting many members to participate. Up to now, 100% of the grassroots associations of 6 border communes gather women aged 18 and over to participate in the Association, reaching 60% or more.
In addition to propaganda work, the District Women's Union and the Women's Unions of communes and towns coordinated with border guards stationed in the area, businesses, and benefactors to organize the giving of nearly 30,000 gifts to poor women and children; awarded 1,998 scholarships to poor students in difficult circumstances; awarded 182 start-up capital to women's union members; mobilized the construction of 12 new Charity Houses and the repair of 4 Charity Houses for poor women's union members in border communes.
The association also organized medical examinations, provided free medicine, and presented health insurance cards to women and children in border communes; mobilized the donation of gifts and necessities to support frontline forces in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition, the Women's Union of inland communes in the district organized the presentation of 361 gifts to poor and disadvantaged women members of 6 border communes with a total amount of nearly 130 million VND. Through the implementation of support activities and assistance to poor and disadvantaged women members from the program "Accompanying women in the border areas", up to now, the Union has helped 486 member households and women escape poverty. The total budget of all levels of the Union in the district to mobilize resources to implement the program for the period 2021-2025 is more than 14.2 billion VND.
The association maintains the model of “Women’s group to propagate the protection of border lines and border markers” with 71 members participating. The groups have coordinated with border posts to propagate Decree 42/ND-CP of the Government on border regulations, propagate border demarcation and marker planting between Vietnam and Cambodia, prevent encroachment, illegal immigration, smuggling, and human trafficking across the border; prevent and combat the Covid-19 epidemic, etc.
Implementing the cooperation agreement between the District Women's Union and the Cambodian Women's Union for Peace and Development of Romdoul District, Romeas Haek District, Svay Theab District, the Chau Thanh District Women's Union has mobilized donors and members, women to organize medical examination delegations, provide free medicine, and visit and celebrate the traditional Khmer New Year to districts and border communes of Svay Rieng Province, Kingdom of Cambodia.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhan - President of Chau Thanh District Women's Union said that recently, the unit has organized many programs and activities to join hands and share difficulties with women in border areas.
The program contributes to improving the material and spiritual life of women in particular and people in border areas in general. Thereby, promoting internal strength, mobilizing the cooperation and contribution of society in accompanying women in border areas, building safe and strong border areas, firmly protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security.
