Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung and her husband, An De village, Hiep Hoa commune, visit their family's rice field.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung, An De village is one of the typical women of the province in agricultural economic development. With the spirit of daring to think, daring to do, in 2017, she and her husband boldly accumulated 30 hectares of rice fields to grow rice in the direction of commodities, focusing on high-quality Japanese rice varieties with outstanding economic value. Not stopping at production, Ms. Dung also proactively connected with businesses, built a chain of links from production to consumption, ensuring stable output for products. Thanks to that, her economic model not only brings high income to her family but also contributes to changing the farming mindset of local farmers, affirming the role of women in modern agricultural development. Her example is a vivid demonstration of the effectiveness of land accumulation and production linkage, opening up a sustainable direction for agriculture and rural areas. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung shared: In the past, my husband and I both farmed and traded in Quang Ninh. Encouraged by our parents, we decided to return to our hometown to start a business. Seeing many abandoned fields, my husband and I discussed mobilizing people to lease and accumulate land to bring mechanization into production. Thanks to that, the family economy gradually stabilized, and we were able to take care of our children's education. Doing farming systematically, linked to the market, has helped Dung's family improve day by day and have the conditions to reinvest to continue developing production right in her hometown.

For the family of Ms. Lo Thi Mai, An De village, instead of leaving the low-lying land fallow, flooded all year round, she and her husband boldly converted it into a pond for aquaculture and seasonal crop planting. Taking advantage of that feature, she chose to raise snails and hybrid tilapia because they are easy to care for and have high economic value. On the bank of the pond, her family grows additional vegetables, both for daily life and to increase income. This combined model helps to effectively utilize the area of land that is difficult to cultivate, minimize risks, and create a stable source of income all year round. Thanks to diligence, hard work and flexibility in converting the production structure, Ms. Mai's family's life is increasingly improved. Not only improving the economy, the model is also a positive direction, inspiring many local households in adapting to climate change and developing agriculture in a sustainable direction. Ms. Mai shared: Through research, I realized that the local water and soil conditions are very suitable for developing the profession of raising snails and hybrid tilapia. With the connection of the Women's Union of the commune to borrow capital from the bank, along with the small amount of money my husband and I saved, I boldly converted the low-yield rice field area to dig ponds to raise snails and grow vegetables. Thanks to that, the family's economic model has gradually developed, contributing to improving life.

Ms. Lo Thi Mai, An De village, Hiep Hoa commune (standing in the middle) shares her experience in converting rice-growing land to ponds for raising snails, hybrid tilapia and growing crops.

Over the years, with close attention and flexible direction, the Women's Union of Hiep Hoa commune has helped many member families and women in the area escape poverty and stabilize their lives. Support, training and loan facilitation programs have been effectively implemented, contributing to enhancing the role and position of women in the community. Thereby, women not only improve their family economy but also actively participate in building new rural areas, contributing to promoting sustainable development in the locality. In 2024, the Union organized many training sessions to transfer science and technology to more than 600 members, and at the same time stood as a credit guarantee with the Provincial Social Policy Bank to support members to borrow nearly 7 billion VND. Ms. Nguyen Kieu Oanh, Vice President of the Women's Union of Hiep Hoa Commune, said: The Union always aims to accompany members in developing their family economy by focusing on promoting training activities, supporting access to loans and building effective production models. Thanks to that, many women not only increase their income but also contribute significantly to the positive changes of their hometown.

The specific and practical work of the Women's Union of Hiep Hoa commune has contributed to reducing the poverty rate of the commune to 1.3%, while raising the average income per capita to 67 million VND/year. The Union continues to affirm its role as a solid support for its members and women on the journey of economic development and building a prosperous and happy family.
