On May 26, at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science andEducation (ICISE, Binh Dinh), the Vietnam Rencontres du Sciences Association, ICISE Center and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research and Education (IFIRSE) opened the SAGI 2025 Astrophysics Conference.
Leaders of the Department of Science and Technology of Binh Dinh province welcomed scientists to attend the SAGI 2025 Astrophysics conference at the ICISE Center.
Taking place from May 26-30, the conference attracted more than 40 delegates, including scientists, researchers, and students from 6 countries and territories, including: India, Taiwan, Germany, Korea, China, and Vietnam. Notably, the conference also had 16 prestigious scientists in the field from France, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States participating in online presentations.
The event also had the direct and online participation of prestigious scientists in the field, such as: Prof. Dr. Alexandre Lazarian - University of Wisconsin–Madison (USA); Dr. Nguyen Trong Hien - NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (USA); Prof. Hoang Chi Thiem - Korea Institute of Space Science and Astronomy; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Ngoc Diep - Vietnam Space Center (VNSC).
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Ngoc Diep - Vietnam Space Center (VNSC), delivered the opening speech of the workshop.
The workshop included 43 presentations at the plenary session, focusing on the main contents: physics and techniques of light polarization and complementary methods to study gas, dust and magnetic fields in the universe; the formation and evolution of celestial bodies, from the scale of planets, stars to galaxies and supermassive black holes; combining data from modern telescopes such as ALMA, JWST, JCMT, SOFIA; discussing new directions, connecting theory - simulation - observation.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Pham Ngoc Diep - Vietnam National Space Center (VNSC), following the success of the previous two sessions, the SAGI 2025 Astrophysics conference aims to create a forum for in-depth exchange between theory and observation on many topics of interest in Astrophysics.
Dr. Nguyen Huu Ha - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Binh Dinh province (left), discussed with scientists on the sidelines of the workshop.
The central theme of the conference is to bring together scientists in two deeply interconnected fields: star formation and astrophysicism. The overall goal of the conference is to explore together the latest observational results, modern theoretical models and advanced computational techniques. This will help identify potential intersections, address outstanding challenges and open up breakthrough research directions.
“The SAGI 2025 Astrophysics Conference not only contributes to promoting international scientific cooperation but is also an opportunity for young researchers in Vietnam to access modern research trends, thereby developing domestic research potential,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Ngoc Diep emphasized.
