DTO - Operating according to the production method associated with the value chain and applying high technology is a model that many agricultural service cooperatives (ASCs) in the province have been implementing. The models are increasingly effective and have been actively responded to by members and workers.

Mr. Le Minh Hoan - Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (7th from right) visited Binh Thanh Agricultural Service Cooperative (Binh Thanh commune, Lap Vo district) on September 2, 2023.

Binh Thanh Agricultural Service Cooperative (Binh Thanh commune, Lap Vo district) was established in 1989 with a charter capital of 1.11 billion VND and 1,814 members. The cooperative has a total operating capital of 10.7 billion VND and a total of 55 employees; it serves irrigation of 1,150 hectares, of which 3-crop rice production is 950 hectares and 2-crop rice and 1-color production is 200 hectares. The cooperative operates with 13 services directly serving member households, including: irrigation services, rural electricity (whole commune), internal credit, provision of agricultural materials on deferred payment, production, provision of rice seeds, purchase and sale of rice, agricultural extension, plant protection, organization of association to support members in consuming products, dredging of intra-field irrigation canals, sale of plant varieties and production of bottled water. The cooperative applies science and technology to production such as: using rice seeders, automatic sprayers, fertilizer sprayers, combine harvesters, accounting for 80% of the total area; there are many topics, projects, demonstration models applied on rice, crops, fruit trees, livestock, and aquaculture, bringing quite high economic efficiency, contributing to increasing productivity, effectively managing diseases and minimizing environmental pollution, helping people reduce costs and increase income.

Binh Thanh Cooperative has built a high-quality rice area of 256 hectares, with 81 hectares for safe rice production and 30 hectares for rice seed production for members. All production areas of the Cooperative are consumed through businesses, bringing stable profits to members. In addition, the Cooperative also has a clubhouse for diverse activities: citrus tree care techniques, transfer of scientific and technological applications, off-season mango flowering treatment, pruning, liming... with 127 hectares, mainly mango and citrus trees...

Tan Binh Agricultural Service Cooperative (Tan Binh commune, Thanh Binh district) was established in 2003, with 1,034 members, operating 8 services (water pumping, cutting, drying rice, fertilizer, credit, soil preparation, plant varieties, clean water), total service area of 668 hectares. The cooperative has a charter capital of 1.031 billion VND, contributed capital of 937 million VND, operating capital of over 26 billion VND; applying science and technology to production such as: greenhouse model for growing seedlings (tomatoes, chili plants), drip irrigation technology, using grafted tomato varieties... The cooperative plays an important role in providing inputs such as: fertilizer and pesticide services (concerned with reducing profits to support poor members in terms of interest rates, soil preparation and post-harvest...; providing agricultural materials to members at prices cheaper than the outside market). In addition, the cooperative has built a 1,000-ton warehouse, a drying oven with a capacity of 40 tons/drying time, developed additional rice storage and drying services for members, and invested in a concrete irrigation system with a total length of nearly 2km.

In addition, there are many effective cooperative models in the province, such as the organic rice production model associated with consumption linkage and application of pesticide spraying by drones, installation of a pump-saving system, 6 smart insect control stations, linking with Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company to pilot organic rice production linked with consumption at Phu Tho Agricultural Cooperative (An Long commune, Tam Nong district). Production model according to VietGAP standards at Lai Vung Red Grapefruit Cooperative, Vinh Thoi Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative, Phong Hoa VietGAP Thanh Long Cooperative, Lai Vung district, applying hanging rack and fruit netting techniques. When applying this process, farmers will strictly control the use of fertilizers and pesticides, contributing to reducing costs, limiting adverse impacts of weather, ensuring product safety for consumers, meeting VietGAP standards is a prerequisite for associated companies to consume products. Model serving digital transformation in agriculture: applying drones in spraying pesticides, seeds, fertilizing and applying software to record field diaries using smartphones; installing smart pest control stations, linked to consumption at Phu Xuan Agricultural Cooperative (Phu Duc commune, Tam Nong district). Model of safe rice production linked to consumption and combining small irrigation development program, internal irrigation, advanced irrigation, water saving with an area of 200ha at An Thanh Agricultural Service Cooperative, Phu Thanh A commune and Hung Cuong Agricultural Service Cooperative, Phu Cuong commune, Tam Nong district. The organic rice production model at Thanh Loi Agricultural Service Cooperative and Truong Phat Cooperative (Thap Muoi District) has encouraged farmers to gradually switch to organic rice production with rice production processes according to the National Standard TCVN 11041-2:2017 on organic agriculture, providing safe products, increasing value and economic efficiency for farmers, while creating conditions for businesses to cooperate with farmers to link production and consumption of organic rice products (production cost is 24,100,500 VND/ha, yield is 6.6 tons/ha, selling price is 5,750 VND/kg, profit is 13,849,500 VND/ha, higher than normal production by 1,200,000 VND/ha).
