Media Subcommittee Meeting of the 8th International Conference of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network Asia-Pacific Region 2024

On the afternoon of June 6, the Communications Subcommittee of the 8th International Conference of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network in the Asia- Pacific Region in 2024 in Cao Bang held a meeting to discuss the conference's propaganda. Comrade Be Thanh Tinh, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Head of the Subcommittee chaired the meeting.

The meeting approved the decision to establish and assign tasks to the Communications Subcommittee consisting of 13 members; and the plan to implement the tasks of the Communications Subcommittee.

The conference is organized on an international scale, taking place from September 7 to 15, 2024, organized by the People's Committee of Cao Bang province in coordination with the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs . There will be 800 - 1,000 domestic and international delegates attending.

Accordingly, the task of the Communications Subcommittee will focus on developing a communications plan before, during and after the conference. Organize press conferences to introduce the conference in Hanoi and Cao Bang (expected in July - August 2024) to provide information on the activities and direction of the Provincial People's Committee; conference preparation work; conference program and sideline events; introduce Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark to central and local press agencies; foreign news agencies residing in Vietnam.

Communication on mass media, social networks. Local press agencies develop communication plans, columns, and pages about the conference and Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark; coordinate with the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO to promote on a number of international newspapers based in Vietnam; link communication on regional, central, and local stations, advise on live broadcasting of the conference's opening and closing ceremonies on Vietnam Television; develop special pages and columns to promote before, during, and after the conference.

Visual propaganda, hanging banners, slogans, flags, outdoor LED screens, public loudspeaker systems... in the City and districts in the province.

During the event, the organizers focused on promoting and reflecting on the activities and events taking place during the conference days; sideline activities of the conference; and experiencing 5 routes of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark.

At the meeting, members discussed the contents and communication programs about the conference in the central and local press; agreed on the time of the press conference in Hanoi; forms of communication about geological heritage, indigenous cultural heritage on each route of Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark; informed domestic and foreign delegates about the propaganda work on the Conference Information Portal https://www.apgn2024.vn/vi.

Concluding the meeting, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Head of the Propaganda Subcommittee Be Thanh Tinh emphasized: The conference is an opportunity to introduce and promote the unique geological heritage and indigenous culture of the UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark, connecting Cao Bang tourism with member countries of the UNESCO Global Geopark Network, contributing to the implementation of the breakthrough content on sustainable tourism and service development in the period of 2022 - 2025, gradually turning tourism into a spearhead economic sector, in the spirit of the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress. The Subcommittee members are requested to base on the requirements of the tasks of the agencies, units and localities to develop an outline of each task so that in the coming time, it can be synthesized and developed into a general outline for propaganda before, during and after the conference. Accordingly, disseminate and implement each task, content, form and method of organizing appropriate and effective propaganda, spread the unique cultural activities taking place before, during and after the conference, spread the message of "Cao Bang Declaration" to connect tourism, culture, and geological science of UNESCO Global Geopark Non Nuoc Cao Bang with international friends.
