By the end of February, the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange had 43 enterprises with a market capitalization of billions of USD, an increase of 2 enterprises compared to the previous month, namely REE and VGC, when their stock prices increased by 9.2% and 6%, respectively.
According to data published on the State Securities Commission's website, as of the end of February, the market had 600 securities listed and traded on the HoSE, including 396 stocks, 04 closed-end fund certificates, 14 ETF fund certificates and 186 covered warrants with a total listed securities volume of over 156 billion securities. The capitalization value of stocks on HoSE reached VND 5.07 million billion, up 7.64% compared to the previous month and 11.23% compared to the end of 2023. This figure accounts for more than 94% of the total capitalization value of listed stocks in the whole market and is equivalent to 50% of GDP in 2023 (GDP at current prices).
By the end of February, HoSE had 43 enterprises with a capitalization of more than 1 billion USD, an increase of 2 enterprises compared to the previous month, namely Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (stock code: REE) and Viglacera Corporation (stock code: VGC) with capitalization of VND 25,013 billion and VND 24,839 billion, respectively. Specifically, in February, REE increased by 9.2%, from VND 56,000 to VND 61,200 and continued to rise. As for VCG, this stock increased by nearly 6% from VND 52,300 to VND 55,400.
The capitalization rankings on the HoSE did not change in the first positions when Vietcombank's VCB shares firmly held the number 1 position with a capitalization value of VND543,819 billion, a sharp increase compared to VND494,635 billion at the end of last month. Next, BIDV shares recorded a sharp increase in capitalization value from VND271,911 billion to VND302,123 billion.
The following positions recorded significant changes. Specifically, shares of Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade ( Vietinbank , stock code: CTG) jumped from 5th place to 3rd place when capitalization increased from 180,706 billion VND to 190,903 billion VND. On the other hand, VHM lost the 3rd place although capitalization also improved to 188,980 billion VND.
The remaining positions in the group of 10 enterprises with the highest capitalization rankings are HPG (VND 180,258 billion), GAS (VND 177,768 billion), VIC (VND 172,065 billion), VPB (VND 157,885 billion), VNM (VND 150,477 billion) and TCB (VND 148,650 billion).
The capitalization of enterprises fluctuated strongly in the context of the VN-Index increasing by 7.59% in February, closing at VND1,252.73 billion. According to statistics from HoSE, all industry indexes increased points. Of which, the most prominent were the indexes of the information technology industry increasing by 12.99%, the raw materials industry increasing by 11.24% and the finance industry increasing by 7.66% compared to the previous month.
The total transaction value of foreign investors in February reached over VND57,556 billion, accounting for 8.7% of the total transaction value of the entire market. Foreign investors made net purchases during the month with a value of over VND2,390 billion.
