"Close call" on the mock exam day: Subjectively, candidates ran all over the school looking for the exam room

(Dan Tri) - Although it was just a mock exam, the subjectivity of a few candidates on the day of the procedures created "heart-stopping" moments on the morning of the first exam day.

On the morning of May 27, nearly 98,000 12th graders in Ho Chi Minh City entered the first day of the 2025 high school graduation mock exam, an important "practice step" before the national exam with many innovations.

However, some candidates are still subjective, leading to "half-laughing, half-crying" situations.

According to the records at the Bui Thi Xuan High School (District 1) exam site, the atmosphere was as serious as a real exam. However, because more than 30 candidates did not come to complete the procedures the day before (May 26), this morning, many of them were late and had to run around in panic to find their names and exam room locations.

Even though some students attended the meeting to disseminate the regulations, they still "leisurely" arrived late because they thought this was just a mock exam.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Phu, Principal of Bui Thi Xuan High School, reminded: "You should not be subjective. If this happens during the real exam, it will greatly affect your psychology when you enter the exam room. Even if you arrive later than the prescribed time, you will not be allowed to take the exam."

Sharing about the preparation for the mock exam, Mr. Phu said: "Bui Thi Xuan High School has prepared carefully, with the goal of bringing the most realistic experience to students."

From creating questions according to the new structure, printing secure copies, to using new exam paper and 4-color scratch paper... everything is done like the real exam.

He also informed that the school has thoroughly trained the exam supervisors to ensure the organization goes smoothly, especially in the context that this year's exam has 2 sessions in one session.

This mock test not only helps students get acquainted with the new test structure and test paper format according to the 2018 generaleducation program, but is also an opportunity for them to self-assess their abilities and practice time management skills.

However, the principal also noted that students should not put too much trust in the school's mock exam, because it is only for reference and partly assesses current abilities, and cannot cover the entire content of the national high school graduation exam.

Candidate Truc Quynh shared: "I feel that participating in this mock exam is very important because it helps students assess their lacking abilities, such as timing the test or checking whether they have reviewed enough necessary knowledge."

Sharing the same opinion, Hoang Thinh said that the mock exam helps him feel less pressured than the real exam, and also reminds him to focus more on this new exam format.

It is known that the 2025 high school graduation mock exam in Ho Chi Minh City is required by the Department of Education and Training for schools to organize it safely, seriously, closely following the structure and regulations of the official exam. The mock exam is compiled by the schools themselves and must ensure absolute confidentiality.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the 2025 high school graduation exam has a total of 99,578 candidates registered, an increase of 8,891 compared to 2024. Among them, there are both 12th graders and independent candidates.

Foreign languages have the highest number of registrations (49,328), followed by physics and chemistry. It is expected that Ho Chi Minh City will have 200 testing sites with 5,600 testing rooms. The entire city will mobilize 14,112 officials, teachers and employees to participate in the exam. The exam marking period is expected to be from June 30 to July 13.

The 2025 high school graduation exam will officially take place on June 26-27.
