Krong Pac district speeds up demolition of dilapidated houses

On May 7, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang, Secretary of the Krong Pak District Party Committee, Dak Lak Province, said that the locality had just held a conference to sign a commitment to complete the progress of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025 in the district.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang, implementing the Prime Minister's direction to jointly eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, concluding the meeting of the Provincial Party Secretary and implementing the decision of the Provincial People's Committee, Krong Pak district is making efforts to complete the construction and repair of a total of 439 houses for poor and near-poor households in the area. "This is a major political task of the locality in 2025, so the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee requires the Party Committee and the People's Committee at the commune level to commit to focusing on leadership and direction together with the political system, associated with the responsibility of the head to be determined to complete the set progress", said the Secretary of the Krong Pak District Party Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang added that to concretize this task, on May 6, the District Party Committee held a conference and requested Party Secretaries and Chairmen of Commune People's Committees to sign a commitment to ensure the quality and progress of removing temporary and dilapidated houses according to the set schedule. Accordingly, the commitment is required to complete 100% of repaired houses by May 19 and 100% of newly built houses by May 30.

“The head of the local Party Committee and government is responsible to the District Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee for ensuring the committed progress. The Standing Committee of the District Party Committee will consider and recommend reviewing the responsibilities of the Party Committee Secretary and the Chairman of the Commune People's Committee in connection with the merger project if the progress is not completed,” informed the Secretary of the Krong Pak District Party Committee.

In addition, the Standing Committee of the Krong Pak District Party Committee also assigned leaders of the District Party Committee and District People's Committee to directly take charge of the areas to supervise and direct the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses.

According to the People's Committee of Krong Pak district, as of May 6, the district has started construction of 215/261 new houses (82.38%), of which 13 have been handed over for use. In addition, 51/178 houses (29%) have been repaired. "Currently, the construction process is facing some difficulties such as the lack of agreement on regulations on house repair design models, some households want to contribute funds for house repair but there is no consensus on how to do it," said Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang.

According to Project 214 on eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses to help poor and near-poor households in Dak Lak province, in 2025, the province will build 4,285 houses, with a total cost of more than 342 billion VND, striving to complete and hand over to people before October 30. The locality will also support house repairs for more than 1,120 households. The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Dak Lak province have assigned the Provincial Police to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction, Department of Finance, localities and related units to organize the implementation of the project.

According to statistics from Dak Lak Provincial Police, as of May 6, localities had started construction of 2,523 houses (reaching more than 86% of eligible households). Of these, 339 houses were completed and put into use for poor and near-poor households.
