On February 27th, Metro reported that famous actor Gene Hackman and his wife, classical pianist Betsy Arakawa, were found dead at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, next to their pet dog.

The legendary actor is 95 years old and his wife is 61.

Local media outlet Santa Fe New Mexican reported that County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed the news of the couple's deaths.

There is currently no indication that the couple died as a result of a crime. However, the police declined to release the cause of death.

Gene Hackman is one of the most talented and versatile actors in the history of American and world cinema. His career spanned more than six decades and left a profound mark through a series of memorable roles.

Born on January 30, 1930, Hackman's talent truly emerged when he began studying acting at the age of 30, an age many consider too late to start an artistic career. However, it was his perseverance and passion that helped him overcome all obstacles to become an icon.

Gene Hackman's standout talent lies in his exceptional ability to embody characters, from upright heroes to cold, complex villains.

He won his first Oscar for his portrayal of Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle in The French Connection (1971), a tough, determined, yet flawed detective.

He then further solidified his talent with the role of Lex Luthor in Superman (1978), a villain who was both evil and charming, delivering a perfect balance between humor and horror.

Another prime example is his role in Unforgiven (1992), where he portrayed a ruthless yet nuanced sheriff, earning him his second Oscar.

In addition to his two Oscars, Hackman has also received two BAFTA awards, four Golden Globe awards, a Screen Actors Guild award, and a Silver Bear award throughout his career.

His other Oscar-nominated roles include Bonnie and Clyde (1967), I Never Sang for My Father (1970), and Mississippi Burning (1988). Exhausted by stress and burnout, Hackman decided to retire from acting in 2004.

Despite having left the film industry, Hackman continues to prove his versatility by engaging in voice acting and writing books. Gene Hackman's talent lies not only in his awards and iconic roles, but also in how he lives his art to the fullest, transforming each character into a vivid and memorable story. He is living proof that age, background, or circumstances cannot limit true passion and talent.
