Ia Mo faces difficulties in developing party members

(GLO)- The Party Committee of Ia Mo commune (Chu Prong district, Gia Lai province) has 10 affiliated Party cells with 116 Party members. In recent years, the Party Committee's work of developing Party members has encountered many difficulties. In particular, in 3 years (2020, 2021, 2024), the commune has not fulfilled the target of admitting new Party members.

Many barriers

In January 2024, the Khon village Party cell was established with 3 party members, of which only 1 party member was a local person, the rest were communal officials and civil servants who were mobilized to participate in activities. In early 2025, the Party cell received 2 more party members to participate in activities. The increase in party members has contributed to maintaining the Party's leadership role in the newly established residential area. However, the work of developing local party members still faces many difficulties and obstacles.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuan - Secretary of the Party Cell of Khon village - gave an example: The head of Siu Nganh village is a dedicated and active person in his work, but he is not eligible to join the Party due to regulations on educational qualifications and previously violated the Law on Marriage and Family.

“Currently, Khon village has 9 students studying in high school, 20 households have children of adult age. The Party cell directs party members and branches and organizations to actively encourage, orient and create conditions for children to participate in social work, preparing a source for long-term development of party members” - Secretary of Khon village Party cell said.

Similarly, the Krong Village Party Cell currently has 16 party members, of which 4 are exempted from party activities. In 2024, the Party Cell set a target of recruiting 1-2 new party members, but by the end of the year, no new party members had been developed.

Mr. Ksor Thang - Party Cell Secretary and Village Chief - stated the current situation: "People's awareness has had many positive changes, especially in recent years, there has been no more child marriage in the village. However, the work of developing Party members still faces many difficulties. There are people who are really eager to join the Party but have problems with their background or do not meet the requirements for educational qualifications. Besides, the admission procedures are complicated and time-consuming."

The Hnap village Party cell has 12 party members, of which 11 are local. During the 2022-2025 term, the Party cell admitted 2 new party members, achieving the set target. However, the work of creating sources for Party development still faces many difficulties. Mr. Siu Chuyen - Party cell secretary and village head - shared: "Some people registered for the Party awareness training class but then dropped out halfway because they did not really want to become party members. Especially the young generation today is afraid of responsibility and long-term commitment".

Mr. Chuyen frankly admitted: "The number of party members is small, so the discussion and contribution of ideas to build the Party cell resolution are still limited." According to Mr. Chuyen, the Party cell is training and helping 3 outstanding people to strive to join the Party. In difficult conditions, the Party cell always focuses on maintaining regular activities and constantly improving the quality of the Party members.

Expectations from the next generation

Ms. Ksor H'Blâm - Elder of Krong Village - said: "The work of developing party members is now entangled with this and that, all of which are consequences left over from the past, so it is very difficult to completely resolve." According to Ms. H'Blâm, in the border area, maintaining security is the top priority, but it must be closely linked to economic development to create sustainable stability. Because only when the economy develops can security be consolidated in the long term. And, the role of cadres and party members in this work is extremely important. With good leaders and exemplary party members, people will trust and follow.

“Many children in the village have finished junior high school and are continuing their studies in high school. That is a valuable resource for the future. Now we just hope that they will study well so that they can take on the village's responsibilities in the future,” Ms. H'Blâm hopes.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ia Mo commune - said: One of the previous major barriers such as having a third child has been removed according to the new regulations, creating more favorable conditions for considering party membership. However, many other problems still persist, especially the consequences of early marriage.

"If there is a suitable mechanism to review and resolve difficulties for these cases, the quality and quantity of party members will certainly be significantly improved," said Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh: “The rate of ethnic minority children in the commune continuing to high school tends to increase. Currently, the whole commune has about 20-30 children studying in high school, nearly 20 children in grade 9. This is a very positive signal for the source of developing party members”.

In addition, the commune also clearly identified the core role of party members in carrying out propaganda and mobilizing people. “Party members go first, the village follows. Where there are many party members, mass mobilization work and propaganda of policies and laws are carried out more effectively. This is a key factor to promote economic development, gradually changing the thinking and working methods of ethnic minorities to rise up and escape poverty sustainably in accordance with the spirit of Directive No. 08-CT/TU dated May 23, 2022 of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee” - the Chairman of the Commune People's Committee affirmed.
