The event also marked Indonesia’s commitment to making tourism a key sector in Indonesia’s economic recovery, as well as promoting sustainable measures. Within ASEAN, Vietnam is Indonesia’s fourth largest inbound market, after Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.
Ambassador Denny Abdi shared: "After the pandemic, we learned about new tourism trends and quickly applied policies and strategies to adjust to changes in tourist behavior.
With this new trend, tourism development needs to focus more on environmental welfare, demonstrating pride in local culture, society and traditional knowledge, as well as a balance between mass tourism and quality tourism."
According to the Ambassador, in 2022, Indonesia welcomed nearly 5.5 million international tourists, an increase of 251.28% compared to the previous year and exceeding the target of 3.6 million. The goal in 2023 is to attract 7.6 million foreign tourists to Indonesia.

Introducing Bali, Mr. John K Purana - Director of RD tour company, Indonesia said: "In terms of culture, 90% of the people on Bali island follow Hinduism, the special thing is that there are up to 1,000 temples and pagodas there and those pagodas do not have donation boxes.
