Israel intensifies attacks on Gaza Strip, 'Iron Sword' campaign shows no signs of cooling down

On August 4, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it had killed Ismail Nofal, a member of the Palestinian Hamas movement.

According to the IDF, Ismail Nofal was responsible for launching rockets into Israeli territory and participated in the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

The IDF announcement also said that over the past day, the Israeli Air Force attacked about 50 targets across the Gaza Strip, including Hamas groups, military structures, observation posts and infrastructure of the Hamas movement.

Earlier, on August 3, the media channel of the Islamic Hamas movement said Israel had conducted an airstrike on a vehicle carrying gunmen in the occupied West Bank, killing the commander of Hamas' Tulkarm brigade and four other soldiers.

The IDF is conducting Operation Iron Sword in Gaza in retaliation for a Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023.

To date, Israel's offensive in Gaza has killed a total of about 39,550 people.
