That is veteran Le Van Tuoi (residing in Hamlet 1, Trung An Commune, My Tho City, Tien Giang Province), a famous ornamental fish breeder with high economic efficiency. From more than a dozen pairs of ornamental fish bought by his son for entertainment, when he was able to breed them, Mr. Tuoi immediately thought of raising and trading ornamental fish. Up to now, Mr. Tuoi owns a fairly large ornamental fish farm, earning hundreds of millions of dong in annual profits.

In 1976, Mr. Tuoi volunteered to join the army and was assigned to the Office of the Military Region 9 Command (production department). In 1981, he transferred to work at the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA) of Tien Giang province and lived in Trung An commune, My Tho city.

“At this time, I was assigned to work as the Head of the Job Introduction Department of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Tien Giang province. In addition to my government job, I also worked part-time to improve my family's life. At first, I invested in raising crabs, then eels, which were unsuccessful. Then I switched to raising giant catfish. The 22-year process was profitable, but later on, things weren't so good.

When my son bought more than a dozen pairs of ornamental fish to raise for entertainment, and then bred them, I immediately thought of raising and selling ornamental fish, and have been involved in the ornamental fish farming profession ever since," Mr. Tuoi said.

Mr. Tuoi said that in early 2020, he sold the first batch of ornamental fish at a minimum price of 30,000 VND per pair, and a maximum of 100,000 VND, with a revenue of 15 to 20 million VND/month. Currently, Mr. Tuoi's family has nearly a hundred tarpaulins, glass tanks and cement tanks to raise ornamental fish such as: Sleeping fish, goldfish, blue fish, rainbow fish, jelly fish... with a total area of ​​about 1,000 m2.

Currently, Mr. Tuoi has created the breed and releases about 200 fry per 1m3 of water, greatly reducing costs for the breeder. Regarding food, the ornamental fish mainly eat bloodworms, about 5 - 10 kg of bloodworms per day and are fed with pellets, industrial food, Thai bran powder...

Regarding the technique of raising ornamental fish, according to Mr. Tuoi, there is nothing difficult, it can be raised in glass tanks, cement tanks, ponds, foam boxes, etc. Therefore, raising ornamental fish to increase income is considered an urban agricultural economic model that anyone can do.

Mr. Tuoi is one of the farmers and war veterans who are at the forefront of applying new science and technology to production and business, bringing high economic efficiency from the model of raising and trading ornamental fish, with an annual income of over 100 million VND, while creating jobs for dozens of workers.

Mr. Tuoi is also the Head of the Ornamental Fish Group of Trung An Commune. In this role, he has mobilized dozens of households (mainly war veteran households with difficult circumstances) to join the Ornamental Fish Group and provided guidance on breed selection, breeding, and farming techniques... to improve income, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction in the locality.

Not only successful with the model of raising and trading ornamental fish to enrich himself, Mr. Tuoi also actively participates in many social activities, supports production, business, helps poor households, disadvantaged households, and policy households in the locality by deducting from his family's income and mobilizing businesses and philanthropists 1,000 gifts, 5 tons of rice each year for disadvantaged people in the area.

With his contributions, from 2020 to present, CCB Le Van Tuoi has been awarded many Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Merit by the Farmers' Association at all levels and the People's Committee of Trung An commune for his outstanding achievements in the emulation movement of good production and business, solidarity to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty.
