The class had the participation of 25 students from grades 3, 4 and 5 of Phong Hai Primary School. These students were all from near-poor, near-poor or extremely disadvantaged households and did not know how to swim. Each participating student was given a life jacket to ensure safety during the learning process.
During the 15 days, teachers will instruct students in the basics of swimming and water accident prevention skills.
The curriculum includes: Swimming safety rules and regulations; getting used to the water; safe pool entry and exit skills; learning techniques for floating, blowing bubbles, gliding, kicking, and arm movements in the breaststroke style; coordinating arm, leg, and breathing movements; practicing water survival skills, throwing life buoys, and safety regulations at home.
At the end of the course, students will be tested and evaluated based on each content learned. Those who meet the requirements will be awarded a Certificate of Completion of the Basic Swimming Course by the Provincial Red Cross Association.
The class is a meaningful and practical activity in equipping life skills for children, especially those in difficult circumstances, contributing to preventing drowning accidents during the summer.
