The 12 teams present at the 2025 National U21 Championship Finals include Hanoi, The Cong Viettel, PVF, Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA), SHB Da Nang, HAGL, Dong Thap, Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Dak Lak, PVF-CAND and the host team Ho Chi Minh City Football Club.
The teams are divided into three groups, playing a round-robin in the group stage, with the top two teams in each group and the two best third-placed teams advancing to the quarter-finals. From the quarter-finals onwards, matches will be played in a knockout format.
Group A of this year's tournament includes Ho Chi Minh City Football Club, SLNA, PVF-CAND, SHB Da Nang. Group B includes Ho Chi Minh City, The Cong Viettel , PVF, Tay Ninh. Group C includes HAGL, Dong Thap, Hanoi and Dak Lak. The tournament lasts until July 31.

On the opening day of July 19, matches took place in Group A. As a result, the host HCMC Football Club lost 1-2 to SLNA.
The only goal scorer for HCMC Football Club in this match was Nguyen Le Quang Khoi in the 71st minute. However, Quang Khoi's goal was not enough to help the home team avoid defeat, because SLNA scored two goals, thanks to Phan Duy Hao in the 63rd minute and Nguyen Trong Tuan in the 81st minute.
By the 5th minute of extra time of the second half, SLNA was down to 10 men, as Le Tan Dung received a red card.
In another match on July 19, SHB Da Nang won 1-0 against PVF-CAND. The only goal in this match was scored by Nguyen Thanh Nhan in the 83rd minute.
The match between SHB Da Nang and PVF-CAND had two red cards, one for each side. Le Van Dat of SHB Da Nang received a red card in the 76th minute, while Khuat Don Tung of PVF-CAND was sent off in the 88th minute.
