The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to conduct geological surveys and develop long-term and sustainable plans to ensure safety for the relic site.
Emphasizing that the Nam Chon station relic is a precious heritage of Da Nang City, a red address ineducating patriotic traditions, with potential for developing ecological and cultural tourism, Ms. Anh Thi said that protecting the original state and landscape of the relic is an urgent task, requiring the synchronous and drastic participation of all levels and sectors.
As Thanh Nien reported, at the end of 2023, the urgency of protecting the Nam Chon station relic was raised by the People's Committee of Da Nang City. Accordingly, along with the Chon Sang station, the City decided to keep the foundation of the Nam Chon station intact.
According to researchers, Nam Chon is the first of seven stations in Quang Nam province that the Nguyen Dynasty placed along the national highway, not far from the top of the pass - Hai Van Quan, which is considered the "throat of Thuan Quang". Among the defensive structures in the early days of the resistance against the French in the south of Hai Van, Nam Chon is the only station that remains relatively intact because it is located in a remote place, untouched by humans. Nam Chon Station has an area of about 14,272 m², built in a solid defensive style with 2 layers of walls, a surrounding moat and 4 gates opening in 4 directions.
