Khanh Hoa faces difficulties in attracting FDI projects due to various types of planning

On June 28, at the workshop "Proposing solutions to increase the attraction of foreign direct investment projects in Khanh Hoa province" organized by the Khanh Hoa Intellectuals Association, Mr. Chau Ngo Anh Nhan, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment, said that up to now, Khanh Hoa has attracted 113 FDI projects with a total registered capital of 3.91 billion USD, mostly from Japan, Singapore, Korea...

However, Mr. Nhan also admitted that in recent years, attracting FDI projects to the province has been limited. In 2023 and early 2024, the province only had 4 FDI projects with a total registered capital of 12.19 million USD.

That result "is not really commensurate with the potential, advantages and policies and mechanisms that the Central Government has reserved for Khanh Hoa, and has not achieved the set goals in the field of attracting FDI capital".

Mr. Nhan also pointed out the reasons for the limitations in the field of attracting FDI investment in the province. In addition to the reasons from some investors, from objective factors... there are also reasons due to the work of establishing, managing and implementing related planning types (on land use, construction, industry development...) in the locality which are not synchronous, unified and still overlap.

This leads to difficulties in assessing the project's conformity with related planning types during the process of carrying out appraisal procedures, approving investment policies, and granting investment registration certificates for projects.

Attracting FDI projects needs to take advantage of the "unleashed" advantages

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Pham Van Chi - Chairman of the Intellectuals Association, former Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee - said that regarding the specific policies and guidelines according to the resolutions of the Politburo, the National Assembly, the Government and many related legal regulations issued specifically for Khanh Hoa province, it can be said that Khanh Hoa has been "unleashed".

But when implementing and attracting investment projects, according to Mr. Chi, the province needs to be bold, even "overcoming barriers" but on the condition that it must be for the common development and not for "personal gain" to create conditions for investors to come to Khanh Hoa.
