Inauguration of the memorial project at the house of heroic martyr To Vinh Dien

(Dan Tri) - The project to honor the heroic martyr To Vinh Dien is located at the house where he was born and raised in Nong Truong commune, Trieu Son district, Thanh Hoa, and was built by To Vinh Dien Primary School, Hanoi.

The memorial project at the house of heroic martyr To Vinh Dien was inaugurated on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory and the 65th anniversary of the founding of To Vinh Dien Primary School, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi .

This school was built in 1959 by the 367th Division - Air Defense - Air Force. The school was named after the hero of the division who used his own body to block the 37mm anti-aircraft gun from rolling down the cliff during the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in 1954.

The memorial house for martyr To Vinh Dien started construction in early May and was completed "in lightning speed" after one week. It was inaugurated and handed over to the martyr's family on May 24.

The entire process of conceptualizing, designing, planning, selecting contractors for each project… is carried out by the school’s teachers with the support of businesses, parents, and partners.

The school's board of directors also organized the collection of historical documents about the heroic martyr To Vinh Dien in particular and the Dien Bien Phu campaign in general, including the restoration of old photos to display at the memorial house, turning this place into a miniature museum with profound historical significance.

Ms. Ha Ngoc Lan - Principal of To Vinh Dien Primary School - said that the project will not stop at being a mere souvenir address but will become a regular traditionaleducational destination of the school.

"The school plans to organize an annual visit for students to offer incense and tell historical stories here. They will understand that there were people who sacrificed their lives to gain the independence and freedom of today," Ms. Ha Ngoc Lan shared.
