Inauguration and reception of the stele engraved with the poem Viet Bac

On the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the birth of poet To Huu (October 4, 1920 - October 4, 2025), recently, at the ATK Dinh Hoa historical relic site (Deo De hamlet, Phu Dinh commune), the Management Board of special national relic sites of Thai Nguyen province in coordination with the Provincial Literature and Arts Association organized the inauguration ceremony and received the stele engraved with the poem Viet Bac, donated by the family of photographer Hoang Thao.

Attending the ceremony were Ms. Nguyen Thuy Quynh, Chairwoman of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association; leaders of Phu Dinh commune; leaders of the Provincial Management Board of Special National Relic Sites; two daughters of the late poet To Huu...

The stele is made from a single block of white stone, one side is engraved with the poem Viet Bac by the late poet To Huu, the other side is engraved with the Tay translation by the late teacher Hoang The - father of photographer Hoang Thao.

The poem Viet Bac was composed by poet To Huu in 1954 and quickly entered the lives of people across the country, especially loved by ethnic minorities in the Viet Bac region. In 1965, teacher Hoang The translated the poem into Tay, contributing to spreading the value of the work more widely. From this translation, many Tay folk songs were formed.

With the desire to continue to honor the value of the poem Viet Bac and express the affection of the Tay ethnic people for the poet To Huu, in 2024, the family of the late teacher Hoang The donated a stele at the Memorial House of poet To Huu (Thua Thien - Hue province) and now continue to donate a stele at the ATK Dinh Hoa Historical Relic Site.
