According to the authorities, Quan Bridge was built in 1964, with a stone bridge design built on weak ground; the bridge girder is made of steel frame, the bridge deck is made of steel 3.7m wide, load capacity 8 tons.
After many years of use, Quan Bridge has degraded, the steel deck has rusted, and the steel frame has sagged.
In particular, after the flood caused by storm No. 10, Quan bridge was severely damaged, forcing the construction industry to temporarily stop traffic on the bridge for more than 2 months now.
The suspension of Quan Bridge has caused difficulties for local people in traveling and transporting goods.
Faced with this situation, the Department of Construction has established a working group to survey, evaluate, and establish a project to build a new permanent concrete bridge to replace the old Quan bridge.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Doan Duc Thuan - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction said: After surveying and evaluating, the Department of Construction and the relevant authorities will agree on the project and location for the construction of the new Quan bridge.
Accordingly, the Quan Bridge Construction Project (new) is a prestressed reinforced concrete bridge; design load HL93 (11.5 tons), bridge length about 33 m, minimum bridge width of 2 lanes covered with asphalt concrete.

Quan Bridge, built and put into use, will contribute to improving the transportation capacity on Provincial Road 163; serving the travel and socio-economic development and tourism of localities located along the right bank of the Red River from Bao Ha commune to Chau Que, Dong Cuong, Mau A, and Tran Yen communes.
