Many Russian tourists will celebrate the New Year in Asia, with Vietnam being the top destination.

According to Russian travel agencies, demand for New Year 2026 holidays among Russians in Asia is increasing by more than 70% compared to the same period last year. The top three destinations for Russian tourists going on tours to welcome the New Year 2026 are Thailand, Vietnam and China.

According to the Association of Russian Tour Operators (ATOR), Asian destinations account for about 50-60% of the sales of foreign tours for the New Year 2026, booked by Russian tourists through travel agencies. According to Sletat.ru, the demand for New Year travel (from December 31, 2025 to January 10, 2026) by Russian tourists in the top three countries of Thailand, Vietnam and China is 70% higher than the same period last year.

This year, the number of Russian tourists choosing Vietnam has increased sharply, expanding Vietnam's market share for the New Year 2026 to 22%, from 6% last year. Destinations in Vietnam are increasingly attracting Russian tourists, thanks to the expansion of charter flights departing from many cities, helping Vietnam to have a significantly higher growth rate of Russian tourists than Thailand.

Phu Quoc and Nha Trang are the top destinations in Vietnam for Russian tourists during the 2026 New Year holidays. Coral Travel Company said that charter flights from Moscow to Nha Trang during Tet have sold 86%. According to Russian travel companies such as Anex, ITM Group... the number of Russian tourists choosing to travel to Vietnam during the 2026 New Year holiday is higher than that of Thailand.

China is the third most popular Asian destination for Russian tourists during the 2026 New Year, thanks in part to its visa-free policy, extensive flight network and many accompanying services. According to Sletat.ru, China's market share accounts for about 9% of total New Year 2026 tour sales in Russia.

In addition, some Asian destinations such as India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan... are having good growth momentum in attracting Russian tourists.
