At 4:00 p.m. on September 11, expansion joint No. 2 on the upper side, south abutment (right side of the railway) of the road section of Ham Rong bridge ( Thanh Hoa city) had its rubber plate peeled off for unknown reasons.
Currently, the construction status does not pose a risk to train safety, but it does affect the normal traffic of road vehicles passing through the above expansion joint.
Due to the rubber plate being peeled off, the bridge railing system was misaligned.
In order to ensure the safety of road vehicles passing through the bridge, Thanh Hoa Railway Joint Stock Company has immediately implemented temporary reinforcement with steel plates measuring 5.2m long; 45cm wide; 20mm thick to create convenience and arranged personnel to be on duty at the checkpoint to regularly check and monitor.
In the long term, relevant sectors should soon take measures to handle expansion joints on Ham Rong Bridge to ensure traffic safety across the bridge.
