The investment project to expand the North-South expressway in the East, La Son - Hoa Lien section, has a total investment of about 3,010 billion VND, using state budget capital, with the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board as the investor.
In terms of scale, the Project has a total length of about 65 km passing through Phu Loc district, Nam Dong district, Hue city and Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city, expanding the road surface from 2 lanes to 4 complete lanes with a road surface width of 22m.
The project is built according to the standards of grade 60 and grade 80 highways, design speed Vtk = 60-80 km/h. The project implementation progress is basically completed in 2025.
Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh said that in recent times, many important, large-scale traffic projects have been invested in and upgraded to ensure connectivity between major economic centers, regions across the country and international trade, especially the expressway network has been gradually formed and continues to be completed to contribute to enhancing traffic capacity on strategic economic corridors.
"Currently, our country has put 2,268 km into operation, by the end of 2025 about 3,000 km will be put into operation and by the end of 2050 about 5,000 km will be put into operation," Mr. Tran Hong Minh informed.

The Minister of Construction emphasized that the La Son - Hoa Lien expressway section with investment and expansion will gradually complete the traffic infrastructure according to the planning, ensuring synchronization and modernity; together with the Cam Lo - La Son expressway and the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway, it will contribute to improving the exploitation capacity of the North - South expressway in general.
To complete the Project with quality assurance and on schedule, the Minister of Construction requested the People's Committees of Hue City and Da Nang City to continue to focus on and resolutely organize the implementation of site clearance work, because the progress of site handover is an important factor in determining the effectiveness of project investment; pay attention to and focus on implementing resettlement work for people as soon as possible; support the quick settlement of licensing procedures for mining construction material mines, arrange dumping sites for the Project; ensure security, order, and organize convenient and safe traffic for people during the implementation process.

The Minister also requested investors, supervision consultants, design consultants and construction contractors to promote the highest sense of responsibility, develop scientific construction plans and methods, suitable to actual conditions, ensure construction progress, quality, safety, and environmental sanitation; strictly comply with the technical requirements of the Project and relevant legal regulations, and prevent corruption, negativity and waste.
On the local side, Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong affirmed that this is a special project, connecting two centrally-run cities; passing through Bach Ma National Park, a strictly protected area; therefore, Hue City requested relevant agencies, contractors, and units to have solutions for strict management and supervision to minimize environmental impacts, comply with regulations on nature protection and ecosystems for this area.

"Hue City will accompany the Ministry of Construction, the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, and relevant units in the process of project implementation; promptly and thoroughly resolve any issues arising from compensation, site clearance, land conversion, forest conversion, materials, etc., ensuring progress, quality, and safety in accordance with the policies and directions of the Government and the Ministry of Construction," the Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee pledged.
