On the evening of March 8, at the international Kun Khmer event held in the suburbs of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, boxer Huynh Phu Thuan of the Vietnamese Kickboxing team excellently won a resounding victory over home boxer Panha Sochio in the highlight match in the 81kg weight class.
Phu Thuan is the only representative of Vietnam to participate in this event and helps leave a strong mark on the international arena.
Right from the first round, Phu Thuan quickly deployed the tactics set out by the coaching staff. He launched powerful punches to break the opponent's legs, surprising him and at the same time showing off his superior skills with continuous punch combinations. Phu Thuan's diverse and sharp punches forced Panha Sochio to continuously retreat to the corners of the ring to defend.

In the second round, Phu Thuan's attack tempo was clearly and coherently increased. He forced the Cambodian boxer into a passive position, with an accurate strike, Phu Thuan punched his opponent hard in the face, causing Panha Sochio to collapse from dizziness.
The referee immediately stopped the match to count the knockout. Despite escaping the dangerous situation, Panha Sochio tried to slow down the pace by moving continuously, hugging and pushing, and even committing two consecutive fouls on the groin, accepting the referee's warning in order to interrupt Phu Thuan's overwhelming attack.
In the third round, the one-sided match still belonged to Phu Thuan. Although Panha Sochio tried to counterattack in the hope of turning the situation around, all his plans were unsuccessful. The match ended with an absolute victory in all 3 rounds for the Vietnamese boxer.
Sharing after the match, Coach Ho Thanh Liem of the Vietnamese Kickboxing team expressed his surprise: "I am really impressed with Phu Thuan's victory. His skills and fighting spirit have improved dramatically in less than a month. This is a historic milestone, because very few Vietnamese boxers have defeated Cambodian opponents right on their home field."
Huynh Phu Thuan, born in 2006, is a boxer from Hau Giang province. With a height of 1.82 m, a fiery fighting style and intelligent tactical thinking, he was soon called up to the national team and participated in training at home and abroad.
If they continue to maintain their form and achievements, Phu Thuan can become a name that Hau Giang invests in, aiming to develop martial arts forces for major domestic and international tournaments.
Explaining his students’ success, Coach Ho Thanh Liem said: “Over the past month, Phu Thuan and his teammates have undergone rigorous training in Cambodia following the curriculum of professional boxers, with nearly 10 hours a day, regardless of weekends. This not only improves physical strength but also sharpens the will, helping the boxers always maintain an enthusiastic spirit when entering the competition.”
The Vietnamese Kickboxing Team is expected to finish their training trip in Cambodia on March 20. After returning home, the members will have a short break before heading to Vung Tau to participate in the National Strong Team Championship, taking place from April 1 to 10.
Besides domestic tournaments, the team's biggest goal this year is to aim for the SEA Games in December in Thailand.
